Case 3 : 연료전지 + Deaerator Make-up 활용

Korea has been operating RPS since 2012 to promote and expand renewable energy. RPS is a system in which power generation companies with 500MW or more of power generation facilities generate electricity using renewable energy sources at a rate more than a certain percentage of total power generation. New and Renewable Energy Business Domestic conditions are intensifying competition for the preemption of limited energy sources. In addition, there are difficulties in carrying out business according to the interests of residents and local governments around the project. Among renewable energy sources, fuel cells play a role of distributed power source, and it is relatively easy to promote the business because it is eco-friendly and has high resident acceptability. Fuel cells can produce electricity and heat at the same time, and can maximize the energy efficiency use depending on whether heat is utilized or not.
Currently, power plants operating PAFCs emit less than 60 degrees of heat into the atmosphere through cooling modules. In order to improve the energy utilization efficiency by utilizing heat of 60 degrees or less in the CHP, a 500 MW cogeneration plant was selected as a model. And modeled through a gate cycle, a commercial program. The modeling system consists of two gas turbines, two HRSG, and one steam turbine. Operating conditions are Mode 1, outside temperature of –12℃, district heating supply temperature of 120℃, stack outlet temperature of more than 75℃. Prior to the case study, we analyzed the effect of district heating return temperature change(65~45℃) on CHP. As the return temperature decreased, the electric power increased but the heat output decreased.
Three cases were selected to utilize PAFC low heat(below 60℃) through CHP. The change of electric and heat output of CHP for each case was analyzed. PAFC low temperature application by case : 1) Case Study 1 : PAFC + DH Heat Exchanger 2) Case Study 2 : PAFC + DH Economizer 3) Case Study 3 : PAFC + Deaerator Make-up Case 1 is the case of increasing the low temperature of PAFC through DH heat exchanger by 120 degrees, and studying the change of steam turbine output. Case 2 shows a case where the low temperature of PAFC is heated to 120 ° C by the DH Economizer and the change in output of the steam turbine is investigated. Case 3 is the case where the PAFC low temperature is used for deaerator make up, and the output variation of the steam turbine is studied.
The results of case study are as follows. For Case 1, the electrical output is reduced by 0.02%(0.09MW), but the heat output is increased by 0.01%(30Mcal/h) based on the district heating return temperature of 50℃. For Case 2, the electrical output is reduced by 0.26%(1.27MW), but the heat output is increased by 0.25% (960Mcal/h) based on the district heating return temperature of 50℃. Compared with Case 1, the variation of electric and heat output of Case 2 is large, which is the result of increase in pressure, temperature, and flow rate on the outlet side of steam turbine IP. For Case 3, based on the district heating return temperature to 50℃ electrical output is 0.07% (0.35MW), the heat output is increased 0.49%(1,930Mcal/h). During deaerator operation, the steam turbine is supplied with high-pressure side(HP) steam and is used as deaeration steam. By using PAFC low temperature water, the amount of high pressure side(HP) steam is reduced. The reduced steam extraction is to act as a factor that is supplied to the intermediate pressure side(IP) steam turbine to increase the power and heat output.
In each case, when the PAFC low temperature water is used to raise the district heating return temperature, the steam pressure IP outlet pressure rises and the electric power decreases. In addition, the DH flow rate increases with the district heating supply temperature of 120℃, and the heat output increases. When utilizing the PAFC low temperature water to deaerator make up, it was possible to obtain a result that power and heat output is accompanied by rising. It is considered that it is a suitable way to apply PAFC low temperature water to CHP system.
