In this research, the researcher plans and then carries out the programs for speech language pathology in the form of individuals and group to find out how positive a group of speech language pathology has effects on intellectually disabled children’s vocabulary and pragmatics knowledge. children at the age of 7 to 8 with third-grade intellectual disabilities are divided into individual or group of respectively 10 and participate in the speech language pathology program. The group program run by the researcher and two assistants, language rehabilitation specialists is taken total 10 times once a week and the individual program (one to one program) does so. In addition, the researcher examines the change of pragmatics knowledge by comparing and analysing the checklist to see pragmatics knowledge and the results of test for receptive, expressive vocabulary before and after. The four results of this study are as follows.
First, the group program has more positive influences on improving a spoken pragmatics knowledge that intellectually handicapped children are willing to understand the fundamental meaning of sentences than individual program.
Second, the group program gives rise to enhancement of non-verbal pragmatics knowledge such positive reactions as nodding their heads or negative reactions shaking their heads the more than individual program.
Third, group program positively affects intellectually handicapped children’s building up receptive vocabulary more than individual program.
Fourth and lastly, group program positively influences on intellectually handicapped children’s building up expressive vocabulary more than individual program.
To sum up the results of this study, the researcher could conclude that the programs for speech language pathology in the form of group has good effects on developing intellectually disabled children’s vocabulary and pragmatics knowledge.
Moreover, group program takes positive advantages of moving forward intellectually handicapped children’s vocabulary and pragmatics knowledge in attracting the children’s interests by stimulating visual and auditory senses.
Therefore, this research implicates the need of furthermore developing diverse programs with the group programs using in the field of Speech language pathology.
