This paper examined Yi Sang’s poems in terms of eroticism. The unprecedented feature of prostitutes or sexually objectified female and male characters in his poems shows contrastive eroticism in the course of conflicts. Eroticism herein refers to a concept that covers a general meaning of sexual relationship between man and woman and love emotion as well as strong passion or impulsive energy to violate conventional belief or taboo in the previous society. As people experience eroticism that ravages everything that used to be performed, triggers commotion, and distracts what is right or wrong, they encounter themselves. Those who were frustrated in search of dreaming the complete consistency with a counterpart starts to feel isolation, separation, and loss, and ultimately look back their own mind that resulted in failed interactive relationship. Eroticism in his works is significant in that it can identify introvert emotions of both men and women as well as how each entity builds up relationships with the world. Poetic ego advances toward the outer world through a woman, and recognizes his or her face in the world. Thus, eroticism in his poems can be connected with a poetic ego and female existentialist problem. The notable part in this paper is whether love between men and women and its fierce tension can elicit any poetic implication. This ultimately aims to examine a problem between “I” and others the writer was concerned and the effects of this relationship on my abyss. This paper considered that a body issue presented in his poems is a critical point that gives enormous effects on the relationship between the narrator and a woman. The most primordial way to share emotions between lovers is associated with inner pleasure derived from physical contact, while "aching body" or "the lack of body" serves as a barrier that prevents the moment of contact. Impossible experience of not being able to be with beloved is connected with a sense of loss. The narrator reveals this emotion to physical image, and expresses the despaired hurt to outside. Physical image in his poems exhibits the disruption, deficiency, or surplus of physical organs and described. Yi Sang deliberately breaks down physical as a total unified body, distorts them, and creates deformed body. This grotesque physical image is interpreted as the configuration of "ailed body" and the trace of struggle to march toward “dynamic body"-“creating body." Possessed with affright, the narrator attempts to recuperate his or her ailed body through imaginative composition of physical reform like “blood"-“face"-“"skull." There three images, which appear to be contrastive, are well connected with his poems and serves as an axis that shows the fundamental orientation of existence. Sexual objectified female body images are portrayed as grotesquely. Women who failed to build up a barrier for self-defense was unable to construct her normal self-image. This circumstance gets more aggravated as women pressed to serve as a complementary role that infuses men's sexual fantasy are deprived of the possibility of experiencing enthusiastic and heartfelt interactive communication. Female vulnerability is manifested in “womb” images directly involved with the birth of creature. Her “womb” is imbued with cosmetic powder, dead fetus, and filthy underwears. A mutual oriented relationship where an entity advances toward the world and the world penetrates into the existence strictly returns to failure in his poems and self is relegated into an ill being. In addition, this paper intends to maintain love relationship as “a technique of allurement” and examine inner view of Yi Sang from the relationship between men and women as he described comedy and tragedy. “Money” and “woman” cause the narrators’s anxiety and speeds up despair. It can be assumed that Yi Sang’s viewpoint that saw excessive society where capitalist monetary economic society are unethically intermingled with eroticism problems. Factors that disturb eroticism between men and women in his poems are represented as animals not people and portrayed as evil like “goblins,” they evoke frightening and grotesqueness. Moreover, a feature that prostitute spreads “chocolate” and receives rewards from male customers is derived from the intention to represent the decadent sexual morality. Eroticism is demoralized by money and human dignity is degraded. A male narrator in his poems do not regard wife body as a disposable product, but tries to possess it into a cage or put it with a ring. This bestowal can be understood as an intellectual technique of eroticism in that it can suppress wife's psychology not as a social symbolic token like “cage” or “ring.” Moreover, this can dual effects in that it does not reveal wife’s secret and expose her dishoonesty without notice The narrator can ensure his minimal status and reputation as a husband by subjugating wife under his control. He bestows differently from any other man. Obviously the narrator’s allurement and bestowal can be interpreted as failure since wife maintains a power relationship of seducers by going out repetitively or by leaving the narrator. In this way, abnormal and complex relationship between men and women renders the integration of “I” with others impossible. “Women” in his works are transferred to animals or plants, inorganic matters or figures, thereby changing into various images. Just as the narrator changed a woman's name in his works, wife is depicted as make up every day to conceal her dishonesty. Their private relationship detects instability between them and is sustained perilously. Yi Sang sharply captures the unique relationship between men and women and a conflict point. His poetic self is always aware of his loss and separation, and continues an entertaining play by changing her face and name. Women perceived by the poetic self or relationship with women ranging from figures to creatures felts the extreme loss due to the lack of partners. Moreover, the poetic ego feels despair as the self tries to identify the impossibility of contact as living together. The reason why this relationship is so tragic is that “I” and “You” are originated from perceiving each other as pains This torture tends to be reinforced as women faces are elaborated and physicality is acquired more. “I” in his poems is assumed to continuously strive to keep a good relationship with his wife. The trace of his efforts to mutually negotiate with the world is presented in the relationship with his wife. Although he involved pains to maintain a good relationship with the world, a minimal possibility of regaining interaction is blocked when his efforts are returned to disconnection and loss. The world of others viewed by Yi Sang was a despair blocked by a grand wall.
