Gross domestic product (GDP) growth with high speed is an important goal for most countries. GDP is one of the basic indicators to assess the economic growth and poverty reduction achievements of developing countries, including Vietnam. However, in practice, the high GDP growth rate is not synonymous with rapid and sustainable economic development, which even sometimes arises the unfairness in society, leading to declining the quality of the people's life.
After more than a quarter-century of national independence, Vietnam has become a country with high economic growth for a long time. However how is the quality of life? And whether the people have more happiness or economic growth was really make the quality of people's life more and more advanced?
Recognizing the need for economic growth must be linked to improving people's lives, the thesis affirms the need to objectively study the theoretical and practical issues of economic growth; of the problem must improve the quality of people's lives; and the need to deal well with the relationship between GDP growth and the quality of people’s life in the coming period, especially in the context of Vietnam before the demand for rapid and sustainable development. Therefore, I choose the subject: "GDP growth and quality of life improvement in Viet Nam" to do master's thesis.
