In a rapidly changing economic and social environment SCM (Supplier Chain Management) is becoming an essential factor to the growth of a corporation. Due to the fact that corporations in the automobile parts industry, which exceeds 10.0% of the value added and number of employees of the total manufacturing industry and exceeds 90.0% of the root industry, becomes more competitive with the mutual cooperation and trust between the consumer and the producer, and therefore, SCM is an inevitable factor. About 20,000 parts are needed in order to complete one car, and because these parts are procured from a variety of cooperative firms, rather than a small number of firms, increasing the competitiveness of the automobile parts industry will lead to the increased competitiveness of the manufacturing industry and even the national economy. The purpose of this study is to identify key factors of partnership that affect the relationship between consumers and suppliers and also understand how these factors affect the success of SCM and ultimately suggest the ideal structure of SCM in the automobile industry. The purpose is based on the assumption that enhancing the competitiveness of the automobile parts industry will lead to enhancement of competitiveness in the automobile industry and ultimately the national competitiveness. First, this study proposes a multidimensional direction for value generation through the success of SCM. Second, it seeks to find ways and solutions to securing competitive advantage in the automobile parts industry. Third, we hope that is will serve as an opportunity to improve labor-intensive and pre-modern distribution industry and restructure it into a low-cost, high efficiency industrial structure. To effectively attain this purpose the methodology we used was empirical analysis, through the use of surveys and the normative approach, using precedent studies, literature, and result of surveys. This research paper includes an introduction, and the second chapter examines the theory of SCM and precedent research, the third chapter explains the research model and establishes the hypothesis. The fourth chapter uses the material from the surveys for empirical analysis of the research model. First, we conducted a feasibility analysis of the characteristics of the survey data and also to establish the reliability of the survey data as well as the accuracy of testing for the hypothesis. We also used regression analysis to test the hypothesis, which states that the independent variable (factors that influence SCM and satisfaction of introducing SCM) influences the dependent variable (the increase in productivity due to introducing SCM). Chapter five includes the conclusion, the accomplishment and limitations of this study, as well as possible future direction of the research. The results of this study are as follows: First of all, Korea's automobile parts industry was oriented more around small and medium sized companies than large corporations but it is becoming more oriented towards large corporations. Also, even though Korea is one of the top five automobile producers, the automobile industry in Korea depends highly on domestic demand and it raises concerns that it might weaken Korea’s international competitiveness. Second, using precedent research we summarized various definitions of SCM, and we also found the common denominator of the introduction background of SCM such as corporate environment and economic principles, decline in inventories, improved customer service, expansion of competitive advantage, and reduced cost of logistics. The success of the introduction of SCM was identified with improved productivity and increased profit, focus on relationships, speed and quality, reduced cost advantage and reduced costs, improved services and reliability of delivery, in this order. Third, the results of the analysis of the characteristics of the surveys indicate that the biggest problem of the foundation of SCM lies in business processes, and the support of confidence in the foundation of SCM partnership is most important. Fourth, we designed a research model, using precedent research and existing literature, to study the performance of corporations, which is the independent variable as well as the independent variable, by dividing it into satisfaction of introducing SCM (independent variable), factors that influence SCM (independent variable), and the success of introducing SCM (dependent variable). Fifth, the results of the analysis of the changing factors that are suitable for the survey indicates that the Cronbach’s alpha is between 0.810 – 0.893, and thus increases the reliability of the results of the analysis. The results of the analysis of the accuracy of characteristics and properties of variables indicate the accuracy of testing the hypothesis for the purpose of this study, which is “the effect on corporate productivity.” Sixth, the analysis of correlation indicates that all variables have a positive relationship and has significance at 0.001%. The results of the regression analysis to test the hypothesis show that the regression model and regression equation are significant. Seventh, the satisfaction of introducing SCM and factors that influence SCM have a positive relationship. After examining the relationship between the satisfaction of introducing SCM and the lower rank variables of the factors that influence SCM (cooperation, sharing of information, understanding, support of reliability), the results show that satisfaction of introducing SCM and support of reliability, a lower rank variable of the factors that influence SCM, have a positive relationship, but sharing of information and understanding have a negative relationship and has a high significance level, and therefore was rejected. Eighth, the satisfaction of introducing SCM and the success of introducing SCM have a positive relationship. Satisfaction of introducing SCM, and both quantitative indicators of corporation success and qualitative indictors of corporation success, has positive relationships. This is true for medium sized corporations (50-300 employees), determining the size of the corporation by number of employees, but was rejected for medium sized corporations and large corporations. Also, companies with less than 10 years of experience were chosen, when determining the size of the corporation by years of experience. It had a proportional relationship with the number of samples. Ninth, the factors that influence SCM and the success of introducing SCM have a positive relationship. Thus, the examination of validity of the reliability indicates the adequacy in variable selection and the results of the regression analysis show the suitability of the model. Factors that influence SCM, and both quantitative indicators of corporation success and qualitative indictors of corporation success, have positive relationships. This is true for medium sized corporations, determining the size of the corporation by number of employees, but was rejected for large corporations. Also, companies with less than 30 years of experience were chosen, when determining the size of the corporation by years of experience. This also has a proportional relationship with the number of samples. This study was successful in showing the aforementioned results, but it looked at a wider variety of partners, rather than network corporations, which are consistent suppliers of the automobile parts industry. Second, despite the fact that there are a variety of automobile parts this part was simplified, and third, the research model and survey omitted the fact that foreign staff members and professional employees have a positive effect on the success of the corporation. Fourth, due to the fact that there was a lack of suppliers that were studied, there are limitations due to small sample size. In order to reduce the problems of this study and achieve better results, the study can be improved by increasing the specificity and professionalism of the structure of the survey, and increasing the number of samples. Also, the automobile parts industry is mostly comprised of cooperative relationships, but it is also necessary to further investigate and produce results after differentiating by type of partnership. Second, the results should be derived after considering the weight of different factors, rather than a simple distinction between independent and dependent variables. Also there was no problem of the results from testing the validity and reliability of presented variables, but this is because a step of eliminating and including an increased variety of lower rank variables is necessary. Finally, since the introduction of SCM is based on the competitiveness of corporations, a follow-up study is necessary in which accepting and rejecting the hypothesis can be related to the competitiveness of the corporation, depending on the size of the corporation.
