Part 1.
현재 그라파이트 도전제가 사용되고 있는데, 도전제로 탄소나노튜브(carbon nanotube, CNT)를 사용하고 NMC(lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide)와 PVDF(polyvinylidene difluoride)를 전극물질과 바인더로 사용하였다.

Part 1. Synthesis and Characterization of Hollow Silicon Nanoparticles
In this study, hollow silica and silicon nanoparticles were prepared. Hollow silica nanospheres were synthesized by forming a spherical core material, synthesizing a core-shell structure through silica sol-gel processing, and removing the core. PAA (polyacrylic acid) and PSS (polystyrene sulfonate) were used as core materials and the core-shell silica structure was converted into a hollow structure with magnesiothermic reduction. The reaction time, reaction temperature, and molar ratio of silica to magnesium were controlled to find the optimal conditions for the synthesis of hollow silicon nanoparticles which was at a temperature of 750 ℃ for 1 hour with silica and magnesium at a mole ratio of 1:3. It is also important to note that the use of NaCl plays an important role as a heat scavenger which helps to maintain the structure of the hollow nanoparticles in the conversion from silica to silicon. As a result, I was able to successfully synthesize hollow silicon particles which maintained its original core size and having a shell of 20-30 nm.
Part 2. Capacity Enhancement of Lithium Ion Battery Using Carbon Nanotubes
Lithium ion batteries are expanding in applications due to the increase in demand for high energy density secondary batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage systems. In this study, the effect of carbon nanotubes (CNT) on the specific capacity of a battery was analyzed. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs), NMC (lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide), and PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) were used as the conductive agent, electrode active material, and binding agent, respectively, to produce electrodes of lithium batteries. Electrochemical characterization of electrodes with varying amounts of CNT were investigated with galvanostatic charge and discharge, impedance spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. As a result, it was found that the required amount of CNT for use as a conductive agent was reduced compared with the use of other carbon-based conductive agents, and the comparative increase in the proportion of active material effectively increases the volumetric capacity of NMC as a cathode material for lithium ion batteries.
