Adolescents need snacks for physical growth. The purpose of the study was to investigate the current status of food consumptions from school store and vending machine with students attending high schools in some part of Gyeonggi-do. Data from a total of 354 students were used for the statistic analysis with the SPSS program of 21.0 version and analyzed with descriptive statistics(mean, standard deviation, frequency) and cross tabulation by general aspects(χ2-test). Of those 354 students who responded to their gender, 51.4% were male and 48.6% were female. BMI(body mass index) ratio consisted of 15.5% of the underweight, 56.5% of the normal, and 13.6% of the obese. Approximately one-thirds of the respondents (33.1%) reported that they used to sleep 6 hours as average per night. About 27.4 percentage of respondents took the allowance 3~5 ten thousand Won, the frequency to visit school store topped 1~2 times a week (39.5%). Bread, dairy products, chocolate, candy, confectionary, ice cream, carbonated drinks, and ionic drinks were all sold at school stores of all three schools, Frozen foods were sold only in school A, and caffeinated drinks were sold only in schools A and B. The snacks which respondents purchased 1-2 times a week from school store were ice cream (52.8%), followed by sweets (44.4%), bread (43.8%), soft drink (41.5%) and sports drink (34.2%). In terms of the purchase frequency of the products according to BMI, ice cream was the most popular item from students at school store and the ratio of students who responded purchasing it as 1-2 times more a week were 52.7% for the underweight group, 54% for the normal group and 56.9% for the overweight group. Only ice cream showed a significant difference in purchase frequency according to allowance (p<0.001), showing a tendency of more allowance more consumption of ice cream. In the survey of the current status of using vending machine, 61.6% of respondents answered that they don’t use it. Carbonated beverages and ionic beverages sold all three schools, caffeinated beverages were sold in School A and School B, and water only in School B. There were no significant differences in frequency of purchasing products from vending machines by gender, BMI, sleeping time and allowance of the respondents. From the results we verified that the snacking-related policy from the government have positive effects on the adolescents’ snacking consumption. But to foster the healthier environment, along with providing adolescent with the education on nutrition labelling and proper snacking, healthy snack (i.e. sandwich, salad, cup-fruit) should be permitted to sell in school store and food vending machine, including at the periods of meal service being impossible such as weekend or vacation. The snack-related policy should need to be made up for providing an environment which makes students choose a healthy snack
