Recently, lithium ion secondary batteries (LIBs) are being applied to large-scale devices such as electric vehicles (EV) and energy storage systems (ESS), which require high power and long life cycles. However, the use of organic electrolytes in lithium ion batteries has the risk of explosion or ignition due to external shocks, temperature, leakage of electrolyte. As a solution to this problem, all solid-state lithium ion batteries(ASLBs) in which a liquid electrolyte is replaced with a solid electrolyte have been attracting attention. It has the advantage that there is no danger of explosion even under external shock, high pressure and temperature. However, because of the low lithium ion conductivity of the solid electrolyte and the unstable interfacial contact between the solid electrolyte and the electrode, the study of this part is required to replace the existing lithium ion battery. In this study, two concepts were used to improve the interfacial contact of ASLBs. The first is to add ionic liquids (ILs) to composite membranes containing tetragonal Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) and polyethylene oxide (PEO) to enhance lithium ion transport. ILs is [Li(G4)1][TFSA] which is a mixture of Li [TFSA] and tetraglyme. It has high thermal and electrochemical stability as well as high ionic conductivity, so it can maintain stability while improving the ionic conductivity. In addition, the electrochemical characteristics were evaluated and it was confirmed that the addition of the ionic liquid in the composite membrane resulted in improved ionic conductivity and excellent C-rate characteristics. The second is to infiltrate the solid electrolyte into the cathode by a solution process. In ASLBs, a slurry process is used to disperse the electrolyte in the cathode. However, the slurry process does not disperse the solid electrolyte. In this study, a cathode containing LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 (NCM622) as the active material, Super P as the conductive material, and PVDF as the binder was prepared and infiltrated with the solid electrolyte LPSCl in the cathode using a solution process. Through the selection process, a solution process was performed using Ethanol as a solvent and Li6PS5Cl (LPSCl) as a solid electrolyte, and the cathode for a ASLBs was prepared by solvent drying and heat treatment. Finally, it was confirmed that the LPSCl was uniformly distributed in the cathode according to the sectional EDS image of the prepared cathode, and it exhibited electrochemical performance.
