DTW 기법의 경우, HMM보다 낮은 연산량을 요구하면서도 2% 높은 정확도를 나타내었다.

Research on motion recognition has been actively conducted for decades. The motion recognition based the image processing is advantageous in that it requires no sensors other than the camera, but it is necessary to consider many situations such as the illumination, the angle of the camera and the subject. In the field of motion recognition, various body parts are targeted. Among them, fingers are the most elaborate joints in the body and have the advantage of providing an intuitive interface. However, since the range of movement of the finger is very small, there are many restrictions to apply the image processing method. In this thesis, we propose a finger motion recognition technique using a flex sensor. Flex sensors are a kind of variable resistors. It's resistance varies depending on the degree of bending, and they have an advantage that cost is low and wearable design is possible. The signal of the flex sensor has the characteristic of time series data like EEG(Electroencephalography) and EMG(ElectroMyoGraphy). Dynamic time warping(DTW) and hidden markov model(HMM) are used to recognize time series data. In this thesis, we implement a system that recognizes the data change over time by applying left-to-right model HMM and DBA(DTW Barycenter Averaging)-based DTW method. The recognition system was implemented using the template matching method which is the most basic pattern matching method together with the proposed methods for the performance evaluation. The result of measuring the recognition rate by setting 6 finger motions was 80.0% for the template matching method, 93.3% for the HMM method., and DTW method showed 95.3% accuracy. In terms of computational complexity, the template matching method was the best, but the reliability was low in terms of accuracy. The DTW method requires less computation than the HMM, but shows a 2% higher accuracy.
