The objective of this study is to verify the effects of self-management on the sportsconfidence and performance of middle school male soccer players. To achieve the objective of this study, as a population, this study selected the players of 30 teams participating in the Jeongeup Danpungmiinbae National Soccer Championship from January 6th 2018 to January 19th 2018, and the players of 32 teams participating in the National Middle School Geumseokbae Soccer Championship from January 29th to February 8th. After distributing total 300 questionnaires(150 questionnaires to each championship) and asking them respond through the self-administering method, they were immediately collected. Out of the collected 300 questionnaires, total 271 questionnaires were used for analysis after excluding 29 questionnaires with insincere responses(double-entry, no-entry, false entry).
Using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 for the data analysis of questionnaires, the reliability analysis on each question of the questionnaire was conducted. In order to understand differences in self-management, sports confidence, and perceived performance in accordance with the demographic characteristics, the t-test and one-way anova were performed. Using the scheffe, the post-test was conducted. Also, the correlation analysis was conducted to understand the relations between self-management, sportsconfidence, and perceived performance. In order to understand the effects of self-management as an independent variable on the sportsconfidence and perceived performance as dependent variables, the multiple regression analysis was conducted for data analysis. Thus, the results of these research procedures are as follows.
First, in the results of analyzing differences in self-management in accordance with the demographic characteristics, all the factors such as grade, player experience, winningexperience, teamaffiliation, and the matter of key player did not show significant differences.
Second, in the results of analyzing differences in sportsconfidence in accordance with the demographic characteristics, there were significant differences in the sub-factors of sportsconfidence such as social support and demonstration of ability in accordance with the team affiliation. The sub-factors such as coach'sleadership and demonstration of ability showed significant differences in accordance with the matter of key player.
Third, in the results of analyzing differences in the perceived performance in accordance with the demographic characteristics, there were significant differences in accordance with the team affiliation and the matter of key player.
Fourth, in the results of conducting the multiple regression analysis to analyze the effects of self-management on the sportsconfidence, regarding the effects of self-management on the coach'sleadership as a sub-factor of sportsconfidence, only the psychologicalmanagement and lifemanagement had significant effects. Regarding the effects of self-management on the socialsupport as a sub-factor of sports confidence, only the trainingmanagement and psychologicalmanagement had significant effects. Also, regarding the effects of self-management on the physical/psychological preparation as a sub-factor of sports confidence, only the trainingmanagement and psychologicalmanagement had significant effects. In regard of the effects of self-management on the demonstration of ability as a sub-factor of sportsconfidence, only the lifemanagement and psychologicalmanagement had significant effects.
Fifth, in the results of performing the multiple regression analysis for analyzing the effects of self-management on the perceived performance, regarding the effects of self-management on the perceived performance, only the life management had significant effects.
