We investigated to assess the visual response and cognition response in part of facial perception in induced anisometropia using by Event Related Potentials(ERP). The fifteen volunteers with an average age of 26 ± 1.60 years were enrolled. Exclusion criteria were included spectacle-corrected VA worse than 0.00 logMAR in each eyes , myopia - 0.75 D, anisometropia > 0.50 D, abnormal accommodative amplitude, and any history of refractive or other ocular surgery. Anisometropia of 1.00 D and 2.00 D were induced in the non-dominant eye with plus power contact lenses. The stimuli which are facial expression of neutral and sad were displayed on the monitor and event related potentials(ERP) were recorded using NeuroScan SynAmps 2. The amplitude and latency at P100, N170 were calculated and compared. The P100 amplitudes corresponding to the initial visual response in 1.00 D and 2.00 D induced anisometropic non-dominant eyes significantly stronger than dominant eyes(p=0.03, p=0.02). There were no difference in P100 latency regardless of the degree of anisometropia(F=1.64, p=0.20). The N170 amplitudes which are associated with cognitive response, in 1.00 D and 2.00 D induced anisometropic non-dominant eyes significantly smaller than dominant eyes(p=0.01, p=0.04). N170 latency regardless of the degree of anisometropia(F=2.86, p=0.05). In the binocular condition, P100 amplitudes which are corresponding to the initial visual response, in 1.00 D induced anisometropia were smaller and 2.00 D induced anisometropia were stronger than normal but there were no significant difference(F=3.02, p=0.07). The N170 amplitudes which are corresponding to the cognitive response related to facial stimulation, in 1.00 D induced anisometropia were smaller than normal but there were no significant difference (p=0.38), and in 2.00 D induced anisometropia were significantly smaller than normal (p=0.01). latency of normal were significantly shorter than 1.00 D and 2.00 D induced anisometropia(p=0.01, p=0.01). These results suggest that 1.00 D induced anisometropia in the monocular condition did not recognize the blurred image at the early stage, so they accepted the visual stimulus more strongly than the dominant eyes. And they accepted less response than the dominant eyes in stage of recognizing the visual stimuli. On the other hand, in the binocular condition, the initial visual response was not different from the normal eyes through the first fusion process. In cognition response, 1.00 D anisometropia revealed similar to normal. 2.00 D induced anisometropia In the monocular state, the unclear image was not recognized at first, so it accepted more strongly than the dominant eyes but in the process of recognizing response, it took more time than the dominant eyes and the response was weak. In the binocular state, the fusion was not performed well at first and the stimulus was strongly accepted. However, the recognition process was longer than normal and the response was weak. Therefore, this study is expected to be a reference related to visual processing in anisometropia by providing information on visual initial response and cognition response according to the degree of anisometropia.
