In this study, the characteristics of zinc oxide plate were confirmed by solvothermal method. In the preliminary experiment, specimens were prepared according to reaction conditions such as temperature, time, pressure, stirring speed and precursor concentration in order to confirm the particle size change of the zinc oxide plate. This was observed through SEM image. Three kinds of the most optimized specimens were selected and the properties such as the composition and the shape of the zinc oxide plate, the light transmittance and the specific surface area (BET) were analyzed. In addition, the following conclusions were obtained through various physicochemical analysis methods such as antimicrobial properties, ultraviolet barrier property and skin irritation test required for preparing ultraviolet screening cream.
1.The crystal structure of the zinc oxide plate prepared by the solvent thermosynthesis method was confirmed by X-ray diffraction which have a (100) plane at the same 2θ= 31.7°and a (002) plane at 34.4° Diffraction peaks.
The crystal structure was Hexagonal wurtzite. The band gap energy of 3.23 ~ 3.24 eV was confirmed by the diffuse reflection spectrum.
2.Among the three ZnO_P165B, ZnO_P165C, and ZnO_P165D specimens synthesized with zinc oxide plate, the specific surface area of ZnO_P165C is 13.7912 m2 / g and the pore volume is about 0.084 cm3 / g. In general, when the specific surface area and pore volume of nanoparticles are large, the particle size is known to be small.
Therefore, the particle size of ZnO_P165C is considered to be the smallest.

The size of the zinc oxide plate through the SEM image is approximately 20 to 50 nm in thickness and 200 to 300 nm in plate length, The distribution and homogeneity of the particles were also confirmed.
