Nowadays, Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) has emerged as a significant and necessary implementation for corporations through economic development. CSR is the pursuit of profits of the corporation as well as pursuing the interests of society as a whole, and making decisions and activities. The IR industry has attracted tourists with the integration of casinos, hotels, and entertainment facilities, and is attracting and operating competitively due to its high impact on society, such as high profitability and employment creation. The importance and necessicity of IR business is consistantly mentioned but related research is insufficient.
Kangwon Land is the only casino in the South Korea that allows domestic Koreans to enter. Among the domestic IR businesses, Kangwon Land was considered suitable.
The purpose of this study is to understand the CSR activities of the IR industry and to examine how the sub – elements of CSR activities affect the corporate image and reliability. To be specific, we will examine how social dimension, economic dimension, philanthropic dimension, stakeholder dimension, economic dimension affect the corporate image and reliability. Second, the study aims to verify the relationship between the corporate image and corporate reliability. Based on these, we aims to provide basic data for Kandwon Land’s CSR activities. The questionnaires were distributed to 189 customers who have visited or known Kangwon Land, and the final 170 copies were used in analysis.
In the results of analysis, out of the corporate social responsibility activities, the social dimension, economic dimension, philanthropic dimension, stakeholder dimension had significant effects on the corporate image and reliability. On the other hand the economic dimension were not significant to the corporate image and reliability. This is presumably because consumers perceive economic dimension as a role played by corporations. However, social dimension, economic dimension, philanthropic dimension, stakeholder dimension were shown significantly, these activities performed by Kangwon Land were interpreted to cause a significant influence in forming the company’s image and reliability. The image of Kangwon Land has shown significant effect on company’s reliability. Which indicate, if we make efforts to form a positive corporate image, we can say that it has a significant effect on corporate reliability.
Therefore based on this, we expect to be able to conduct more strategic social contribution activities if applied in practice.
