Though choir is often a highly accessible social activity, teachers and individuals uneducated in vocal music often do not have the knowledge sufficient for an excellent choral program. Conductors and singers who majored in keyboard or music composition ought to have the theoretical background required to achieve proper vocalization. This study first aims at understanding right vocalization as a base for chorus, and then helps guide choral vocalization for children. In order to do so, this study researches posture, respiration, vocal organs, resonance, voice register, head voice, and falsetto; based on choral vocalization theory, the study will finally suggest principles for teaching choral vocalization. The conclusion of this study based on analyzing vocalization theory is as follows. First, right posture is the most rudimentary element for right respiration. Second, right respiration is the most basic principle. Third, right singing needs muscular training; thus, conductors and teachers who lead choir need to keep in mind that ‘warm-ups’ are a crucial step before actual practice. Fourth, even though vocalization is not dissimilar between adult and children from the perspective of vocalization method, a different approach to vocal guidance for children is required. Previous research suggests that adult vocalization is fundamentally different from child vocalization. However, an analysis of vocalization theories reveals that the vocalization principle is not different between children and adults. This means that children need to have a distinct teaching method, given that they are still on the process of growth and their vocal organs have not matured. In order to provide a pragmatic practice method, this proposes a practice method of choral vocalization for children. This study aims to give practical guidance in choral vocalization for conductors and teachers. Furthermore, it aims to enhance knowledge of right vocalization theory of those who participate in chorus.
