The purpose of this study was to investigate the acculturation stress of Chinese marriage immigrants, and to identify the factors that impact their acculturation stress, focusing on self-esteem, social support, and social participation. The subjects of study were recruited through welfare agencies, Chinese Language Institutes, and internet communities of Chinese marriage immigrants. Online and offline surveys were used to collect data, and finally, a total of 180 questionnaire surveys were analyzed. The results of regression analysis shows that religion, income, self-esteem, social support, and social participation were significant variables that affected acculturation stress. That means Chinese marriage immigrants who have religion, higher income, higher self-esteem, receive more social support, and participate more in social activities, had lower acculturation stress. Based on these results, this study proposes that self-esteem, social support and social participation are important factors to consider in order to relieve the acculturation stress of Chinese marriage immigrants and to help them live a healthy life as a member of Korean society. This study made contributions to understanding the theoretical basis and implications of Chinese marriage immigrants' self-esteem, social support and social participation in relation to their acculturation stress. Further research are required to develop and improve intervention programs and policies for this population.
