선정된 균은 Escherichia coli KCTC 1682, Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC 4352, Pseudomonas aeruginosa KCTC 2004, Shigella sonnei KCTC 2518, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538p, Candida albicans KCTC 7270이다.

This study examined the sterilization effects of electrolyzed hydrogen water on the bacteria under fingernails. First, we selected the standard species that could be infected from the hand. We investigated whether hydrogen water can sterilize the standard species. They included all of the possible pathogens in the skin such as Gram negative, Gram positive and fungus in order to investigate the sterilization effects on individual strains. The chosen bacteria are Escherichia coli KCTC 1682, Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC 4352, Pseudomonas aeruginosa KCTC 2004, Shigella sonnei KCTC 2518, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538p and Candida albicans KCTC 7270. All of these strains were sterilized by treatment with hydrogen water. Second, this study collected bacteria under the fingernails of eight people, who are from twenties to thirties, to identify the sterilizing power of electrolyzed hydrogen water on actual bacterial strains under fingernails. The result of 16s rRNA analysis identified that there are ten strains. They are Bacillus megaterium, Brevibacillus borstelensis, Leifsonia shinshuensis, Kurthia gibsonii, Providencia alcalifaciens, Ralstonia pickettii and four types of Staphylococcus spp. These strains under fingernails of six people were sterilized by hydrogen water. When the sporulation bacteria B. borstelensis and K. gibsonii coexisted, Ralstonia pickettii was sterilized 81%. In all other cases, more than 98% was sterilized. The sterilizing power of hydrogen water differed depending on the type of bacteria, but hydrogen water sterilized a considerable part of pathogenic bacteria under the nails. Third, this study conducted a comparative experiment with tap water and electrolyzed hydrogen water to verify whether the facial cleansing with electrolyzed hydrogen water affects facial skins. The experiment tested twenty four men and women, who are from twenties to forties, using tap water for twelve people in the control group and hydrogen water for twelve people in the experimental group, for four weeks. After the four-week experiment, this study could confirm that the hydrogen water facial cleansing was more effective than the tap water facial cleansing for removing skin wastes while sustaining skin moisture from the test results of skin changes thirty minutes after facial cleansing. Compared to the control group, facial skin moisture was 3.71% higher for the experimental group (p<0.05). The amounts of sebum were 51.33% lower (p<0.001) for the experimental group, pH was 8.36% lower (p<0.001), TEWL was 22.58% lower (p<0.01), pigmentation was 17.27% lower (p<0.01) and wrinkles were 36.90% lower (p<0.001), respectively. In the case of checking skin changes for two hours after facial cleansing, the results were the same or similar. Compared to the control group, facial skin moisture was 19.48% higher for the experimental group (p<0.05). The amounts of sebum for the experiment group were 36.16% lower (p<0.001), pH was 4.27% lower (p<0.001) and TEWL was 23.82% lower (p<0.001), respectively. Other results were identical to those of thirty minutes after facial cleansing. Thus, it was shown that the electrolyzed hydrogen water facial cleansing had better sterilization and skin improving effects compared to the tap water facial cleansing. Thus, this result could contribute to improving health and hygiene of individuals and be applied to beauty industry and cosmetic product development such as nail, skin, and hair in the future.
