HyBRID Reduction Decontamination and Electrolytic Decontamination is a technique used to remove metal ions such as Fe on the inner wall of corrosion, which is the main method of primary plant decontamination. HyBRID Reduction Decontamination is a process of dissolving the magnetite of the corrosion oxide film in an ionic state through acidic dissolution and reduction process using hydrazine and Cu catalyst. At this time, sulfuric acid is injected to adjust the pH. The injected sulfuric acid and metal ions precipitate through Ba(OH)2 after the process. In this experiment, we tried to reduce the amount of sulfuric acid injected by controlling the concentration of hydrazine in the HyBRID process, and tried to identify the chemical properties of the HyBRID process. The conclusions of this study are as follows. 1) When 50 mM hydrazine was reduced to 10 mM hydrazine, the dissolution rate of Fe ion through reduction decontamination did not change and it affected only the dissolution rate. Therefore, it is considered that the hydrazine injected into the HyBRID process can be reduced to 1/5. 2) Reduced hydrazine could theoretically significantly reduce waste generation.
On the other hand, the following conclusions were drawn in a study to investigate the chemical properties of the previously developed regenerative electrolytic decontamination process. 1) There is only a very small amount of C2O42-.In addition, Fe2+ ion is also present in the form of FeH2PO4+ in combination with phosphate of phosphoric acid. Therefore, only very small amount of FeC2O4(aq) forming precipitate exists. 2) However, since the solubility of FeC2O4(aq) is very low at low pH of the high concentration phosphoric acid electrolyte, it can be precipitated as a supersaturated precipitate by oxalic acid injected in excess (over 2 times) of Fe2+ ion concentration. At this time, the precipitate rapidly reacts at room temperature within 10 to 20 minutes and precipitates more than 90% of Fe2+ ions. Therefore, most of the iron ions in the high concentration phosphoric acid electrolytic decontamination waste solution can be removed by precipitation using oxalic acid, and the waste solution can be regenerated.
