The interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) has been widely utilized in hybrid electric vehicles(HEVs) such as traction motor due to high power density, high efficiency, mechanically robust rotor and, more importantly, wide speed region. Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor which is used as power sources for HEV/EV systems, is used as the structure that adds separate cooling systems or can totally cool down by using transmission oil, but its temperature variations are unavoidable depending on the driving environment or conditions of the vehicle. If there is no counterplan against these temperature changes, the operation efficiency will be reduced due to torque loss in the same driving area as the temperature rises. In addition, the inverter for running a permanent magnet synchronous motor used in the vehicle occurs voltage variation according to the condition of the battery or load current. The variation in the inverter input voltage causes the voltage that the inverter can output to fluctuate, which leads to variation in the operating area of the motor, and therefore changes of appropriate operating area of the battery voltage change are required. In a vehicle requiring high reliability, the conventional abbreviated control method uses a two-dimensional LUT for the D-Q axis current, which receives magnetic flux as a function of voltage and speed and motor torque as input. This paper proposes a method to secure the torque control accuracy while maintaining the same dynamic characteristics as the conventional method using the stator flux linkage, torque based LUT measured at one temperature by using IPMSM for HEV. The proposed method can compensate the stator flux linkage and torque command according to the operating range and satisfy the torque error less than 2.5% within the allowable temperature range of the motor with one LUT. In addition, one LUT can be used to simplify the software, reduce CPU usage by 2.05%, and memory usage by 7.4%.
