Multi-level Analysis on Obesity Affecting Factors among Contact Center Employees
Park, Kyung-soon (Academic Advisor : Lee, Key Hyo, Ph.D) Graduate School of Health Science, Inje University
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify the individual and regional factors that affect obesity among contact center employees through multi-level analysis. Methods: An empirical model containing individual and regional factors was designed based on empirical research literature. Data were collected from 7,312 female employees of eight contact centers in 2017 by combining data on the health checkup, qualifications, premium levy, and benefit of National Health Insurance of Korea, and adding regional level variables from administrative statistics. the empirical model testing was conducted through a multi-level logistic regression analysis. Results: The results of multi-level logistic regression analysis show that not only individual level, but also regional level factors had significant effect on obesity. Among individual level, age, income, smoking, hypertension, diabetes, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, drinking days, and alcohol consumption were significantly affecting variables(p<.05). Simultaneously, financial independence and living environment satisfaction were significant among the regional level variables on obesity(p< 0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that obesity among contact center counselor is both individual and ecological problems affected by the community in which the individual lives. Therefore, comprehensive intervention, such as the improvement of the living environment in the community, as well as individual level intervention, such as behavioral changes should be considered to deal with the obesity problem more properly.
