몽골인 학습자를 위한 한국어 신체 관용구 교육 방안 연구 : 눈, 코, 입을 중심으로 A study on the teaching method of Korean body-related idioms for Mongolian learners : focusing on eyes, nose and mouth원문보기

In this study, differences and similarities between Mongolian and Korean body-related idioms are found and compared, and an effective teaching method thereof to Mongolian learners is proposed. The results of this study is based on the analysis of the preceding studies. The most commonly used 52 idiomatic expressions related to body parts such as ‘eyes, nose, and mouth’ were extracted through analysis of three Korean language textbooks and the idiomatic expressions volume by “Living Korean Language” book. The idioms were classified into 'A type' (idioms with the same lexical constitution and meaning), 'B type' (idioms with a partial or completely different lexical constitution but the same meaning), 'C type' (idioms with a partial or completely similar lexical constitution but with different meaning), and D type (only used in Korea). As a result, 5 expressions for A type, 19 for B type, 6 for C type, and 22 for D type were identified. Based on this classification, Mongolian learners of Korean language were surveyed in order to identify the usage patterns and errors of these idioms. Each A, B, C, and D types in the survey contained questions about 1) the meaning of the idiom, 2) understanding about the idiomatic expression, 3) understanding about the structure of the idiomatic expression, and 4) error patterns observation. Through the survey it was possible to confirm that expressions in A type are well-predicted, subject and verb of expressions in B type are often mistaken, the meaning of expressions in C type is often misinterpreted, and the expressions in D type are the most difficult for learners since they are not commonly used. This confirmed the hypothesis by Lado(1957) which claimed that “The larger the gap between two languages, the harder it is for its learners”. It was concluded that each type requires attention and accordingly, a suitable learning strategy is necessary. When teaching A type expressions, one should pay attention to investigation. In case of B type, vocabulary construction requires attention thus it is important to master it. C type requires attention to the meaning of idioms, thus it is important to practice the meaning of vocabulary construction. And finally, for D type, learners should get a valid understanding of expressions through various contexts since similar idioms are nonexistent in their mother tongue. Accordingly, this study is meaningful in that it suggests a teaching method of Korean body-related idioms to Mongolian learners by comparing them and observing the error patterns.
