This paper cover the study of Distributed Static Series Compensator which is one of D-FACTS. The D-FACTS has the same function as existing FACTS while reducing the disadvantages of FACTS. Among these, the DSSC supplies or absorbs reactive power to the transmission line to adjust the reactance and power flow of the power system. This study deals with the hardware and controller design of the DSSC, and also design and implement a transmission line small-scale model system to verify the operation of the DSSC. A total of six DSSC modules were constructed to evaluate the performance of distributed modules on single-phase and three-phase lines, and the operation was verified by simulation and experiment for two cases of module independence and module cooperation using reactance variable control technique. In addition, when the line current is unbalanced in single-phase and three-phase systems, this paper propose an algorithm for balancing the line current by applying the reactive power injection function of the DSSC. This algorithm varies the magnitude of the linear voltage so that the line current of each phase is equalized based on the average of the line current. In the three-phase system, the VQVI algorithm and the QVMV algorithm were proposed respectively, and both algorithms were verified by simulation and experiment.
