Viral diseases in crops has been increasing every year, and in even pepper, an important crop worldwide, has been also increasing. Unfortunately, there are no crop protection agents registered with a target of the virus disease at present. In this study, we tried to find out whether Probenazole, which causes the systemic acquired resistance in the crops to the diseases, could control pepper virus disease. In addition, the controlling efficacy of Flonicamid as an insecticide was tested for the control of aphids, which is one of the methods for preventing pepper virus disease. The mixture of probenazole and oxytetracycline (a.i. 32(15+17)%, WP) was used to test its efficacy on pepper viral diseases by applying with a leaf spray and a soil drenching, and showed 31.1% and 49.9% of control values, respectively. In addition, flonicamid (a.i. 2%, GR) showed 96.8% and 95.5% controlling efficacy on pepper aphid and peach aphid, respectively. Therefore, the mixture of probenazole and flonicamid was prepared to test the efficacy against pepper viral diseases, which were transmitted by aphids. Examination of the physical properties of the prepared mixed fungicide showed no problems in all the test items (gravity, water content, solidity, particle size, hardness, and collapse in water). Probenazole/flonicamid mixture (a.i. 14(12+2)%, GR) prepared in this experiment was tested for control of pepper virus disease in 3 pepper field from 2017 to 2018, which were consisted with one field in 2017 and 2 fields in 2018. In 2017, 72.1% of pepper virus diseases were controlled, and in 2018, 68.4% and 66.5%, respectively. Of the two test fields in 2018, a change in the pattern of virus occurrence over time at the plastic house test field located in Yeoju-si was investigated that many diseased samples showed single infection or two or more duplicate infections. CMV and BBWV2 transmitted by aphids had higher single infection rates, but TSWV transmitted by thrips had lower single infection rate and had a higher double infection rate with CMV, BBWV2, BWYV and PepMoV. Showing the control efficacy of the mixture of probenazole and flonicamid against aphids of pepper, it was very effective in controlling aphids. The mixture of probenazole and flonicamid was also effective against fungal and bacterial diseases in pepper. In 2017 and 2018, it showed more than 81.4% of control value against pepper late blight, but it was not effective in pepper anthracnose. The control effect was 78.7% and 78.1% for bacterial wilt and bacterial leaf spot, respectively. Residual doses of probenazole and flonicamid were 0.07 mg/kg and 2.0 mg/kg, respectively. Residual analysis showed that the residual amounts of probenazole and flonicamid were below the residual allowance. Toxicity tests were also not a problem in the animal and environmental toxicity tests. As a result of this experiment, the mixture of probenazole and flonicamid (a.i. 14(12+2)%, GR) was effective in controlling pepper virus disease, and there is no problem of residual and toxicity. Based on these results, it is thought that the mixture used in this experiment can be used as a pepper virus disease control agent.
