Currently, various mobility environments such as Wi-Fi and WiMAX have been introduced. Additionally, research on mobile environments such as Mobile Internet Protocol (MIP) and Proxy Mobile IP (PMIP) is underway. Furthermore, studies based on distributed mapping management for mobile environments are focused on the effective management of mobility, specifically the mechanism of identifier and locator mapping management. However, these studies have not considered the Internet-of-Things (IoT) environment, which is now attracting attention as a new future Internet. Also, it is necessary to manage the mapping between the identifier and the location information, together with the presentation of the identifier possessing abundant resources that can be used in the IoT environment. Therefore, this thesis proposes a new scheme that manages Domain-based identification (ID) and location information by a distributed mapping method. The ID indicates the domain identifier where the device belongs. Each identifier includes domain information, and each domain gateway maintains mapping information of identifiers and location information based on domain information contained in the identifiers. On the basis of numerical analysis and testbed experiments, it is herein shown that the proposed Domain-based Identifier-Locator information mapping management scheme provides better performance than that provided by conventional methods, in terms of the total delay including registration delay and data transfer. This thesis compares the performance hop count, wired link delay, number of devices, bandwidth, and number of mapping servers. Finally, assuming a very large-scale environment, the performance of the proposed scheme is excellent. The proposed scheme is better than the Centralized Mapping Management (CMM) by about 38%, the Hash-based Distributed Mapping Management (H-DMM) by about 33%, and the non-roaming case by the use of Domain-based Mapping Management (D-DMM). The actual testbed was implemented in various ways. First, 6to4Tunneling and Netfilter are used. Second, it is assumed that the identifier is the same as in IPv4 and uses OpenFlow and ClickRouter. Finally, it is assumed that the identifier is same as in IPv6, and also uses OpenFlow and ClickRouter. All of the test cases employ separated Data and Control packets. The proposed scheme satisfies this specification and is working well. In this thesis, it is demonstrated that end-to-end communication uses only the identifier. And if a device moves to another domain, end-to-end communication continues to work.
