Various functional disabilities can occur after a stroke and representative of these are functional disabilities of the wrists and fingers. As the wrists and fingers are joints that are used most in everyday life, systematic training that uses rehabilitation treatment robots or tools is needed. Such rehabilitation treatment needs long-term focused treatment actions and while robots do get developed, aiming for the automation of rehabilitation therapists, essentially, the development of robots for rehabilitation treatment, is needed. Most rehabilitation robots in Korea and abroad are treatment robots that aim to rehabilitate the upper limbs that include the shoulders and elbows or that provide walking assistance for the rehabilitation of the lower limbs. There are a relatively smaller number of wrist and finger rehabilitation robots and rehabilitation robots with an exoskeletal form, which allow for the independent exercise of each joint, take a long time to wear and lack adjustable parts for each patient and as finger joint exercises are structurally complex, modeling and development are not easy. The demand for clinically valid wrist and finger rehabilitation equipment is increasing and active rehabilitation equipment for the wrist and fingers that have had their validity verified and are easy to wear are needed. This thesis develops customized rehabilitation training equipment and an exclusive program specialized for the wrists and fingers and it attempts to make proposals for the realization of motions centering on finger exercises that can be implemented together with wrist exercises. Pitching exercises are made possible using the independent 5-DOF fingers of the Scott Rushell linkage structure and effective rehabilitation treatment motions can be made using 3-DOF wrist movements of the NU-Wrist structure. A force sensor is combined to fingertips and movement intentions are measured allowing for the performance of repeated movement and using a 3D Motion controller that has an extruding force with a maximum of 6 axes, flexion and extension joint rehabilitation motions are carried out during zoom movements, radial deviation and ulnar deviation joint rehabilitation motions are carried out during roll movements, and pronation and supination rehabilitation motions are carried out during spin movements. For the reliability of an 8-DOF rehabilitation treatment system, an EtherCAT-based sensor interface and control network was composed and middleware that allows Ethernet-based operations for real time control was developed. Rehabilitation is made possible through an exclusive program that manages rehabilitation treatment robots, measures the strength of each patient, makes fine adjustments, and makes movement scopes different. A physical stopper is installed onto the driving part of the rehabilitation robot and an emergency stop switch that can shut power off is additionally combined to secure safety. Developed rehabilitation training equipment can induce active rehabilitation training participation using customized contents according to upper body function recovery stages. By conducting research on rehabilitation training robots together with hospitals, businesses, and researchers, verifications were made that wrist and finger rehabilitation treatment can be actively given to patients. Link standards for each finger of rehabilitation training equipment are identical, thumb and little finger, which are relatively shorter, become slightly uncomfortable when the equipment is worn and height adjustments for robot bodies and forearm stands are difficult to make so additional devices that can minimize patient discomfort are needed. Presently, there is an insufficient amount of expert groups for the development of rehabilitation robots and the securement of source technology and rehabilitation robot management is dependent on the know-how of therapists. Clear inquiries regarding the foundations and methods of treatment principles that differ according to patient characteristics and that can be accessed by anyone are needed and lastly, additional research regarding goal-oriented treatment programs focused on actual and clinical results is needed.
