This research aims to estimate the national health insurance benefits use for dentures and dental implants for the seniors over 65, and to provide the basic data for national health care policy and dental health insurance coverage expansion for the elderly in preparation for the aging society. This data sources are recuperation cost specifications from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service to which were sent from the dentist’s office in Daejeon from 1st July 2016 to 31st December 2018. Among the specifications, this research specifically targeted and analyzed patients who completed 1- to 3- stage dental implants, those who completed 1- to 6- stage partial denture, and those who completed 1- to 5- stage complete denture(metal and resinbased-).As for the analysis, χ² test, one-way ANOVA, multiple regression, and canonical correlation analysis were performed, and there search outcomes are as follows. First, according to the analysis of the health insurance benefits use for dental implants, males showed a higher pattern than females, and the age group of 65-74 recorded the highest. There was no significant difference in dental implant placement between the maxillary and mandibular jaws. It also showed an increasing trend by year: 19.5% in 2016, 35.4% in 2017, and 45.1% in 2018. The number of average required days in each stage was 26.65 days in stage 1 and 2, 106.95 days in stage 2 and 3, and 132.61 days in the total number of average required days (stage 1-3). Second, according to the analysis of health insurance benefits use for partial denture, females were higher than males, and the age group of 65-74 recorded the highest. The tooth number position showed the highest in the maxillary jaw, followed by the mandibular jaw and the bimaxillary jaw. It also showed a pattern by year: 23.9% in 2016, 38.2% in 2017, and 37.9% in 2018. The number of average required days in each stage was 8.52 days in stage 1 and 2, which showed statistically significant differences by year. The stage 2 and 3 had 6.95days, the stage 3 and 4 indicated 1.50 days, the stage 4 and 5 were 5.03 days, the stage 5 and 6 recorded 5.01days, and 27.01 days in the total number of average required days (stage 1-6). Third, according to the analysis of health insurance benefits use for metal based complete denture, females were higher than males, and the age group of 65-74 recorded the highest. And the tooth number position was the highest in the bimaxillary jaw, followed by the maxillary jaw and mandibular jaw. It also showed an increasing trend by year: 22.4% in 2016, 37.1% in 2017, and 40.5% in 2018. The number of average required days required in each stage was 8.56 days in stage 1 and 2, 7.22 days in stage 2 and 3, and 5.86 days in stage 3 and 4, 6.44 days in stage 4 and 5, and 28.08 days in the total number of average required days (stage 1-5). Fourth, according to the analysis of health insurance benefits use for resin based complete denture, females were higher than males, and the age group of 75-84 showed the highest use rate. And the tooth number position recorded the highest in the bimaxillary jaw, followed by followed by the maxillary jaw and mandibular jaw. It also showed a trend by year: 22.8% in 2016, 42.8% in 2017 and 34.4% in 2018. The number of average required days in each stage was 6.33 days in stage 1 and 2, 6.55 days in stage 2 and 3, 5.39 days in stage 3 and 4, 6.04 days in stage 4 and 5, and 24.31 days in the total number of average required days (stage 1-5). Fifth, as for the analysis of the overall care periods, the age group of 65-74 decreased by 13.23 times compared to the age group over 85 in terms of dental implants, whereas the former group also decreased by 3.99 times compared to the latter group in terms of partial denture. When it comes to the care period of metal based complete denture, the former group decreased by 5.06 times compared to the latter. And as for the period of resin based complete denture, the former decreased by 1.67 times compared to the latter. As a result of this research, the use of dentures and dental implants showed a gradual decrease in the age group of 65-74, whereas the group of 75-84, and over 85 showed more visits to the dentist’s office. In the sense it is assumed that the older they are, the more they lose their teeth. Given that there is a high proportion of patients with the edentulous maxillary and mandibular jaws in terms of complete denture, it is required to improve the policy for dentures and implant prosthesis replacement of missing teeth so that their oral functions are recovered. As for dental implants, there is a need to expand the coverage of medical insurance benefits, which are currently limited to two lifetime implants per person and partially edentulous patients. In addition, it is necessary to prepare an efficient operation plan of health insurance such as financial management in line with expansion of the government's coverage.
