The shipbuilding industry refers to modern comprehensive industry, which provides technical equipment to such sectors as water transportation, marine development and defense construction. The global shipbuilding market has grown at a fast pace since 2003, with the South Korean shipbuilding industry orders, construction, output production the list of orders, while seven of the world's top 10 shipyards are solidifying their position as shipbuilding power with the schedule of South Korean shipyards. With global trade growth slumping following the 2008 financial crisis, the shipping and shipbuilding markets have also been hit hard by the slowdown, and the shipping and shipbuilding markets are rapidly deteriorating. Even after the financial crisis, the Korean shipbuilding industry continued to develop, but it later caused a crisis for the Korean shipbuilding industry as it was quickly chased by the Chinese shipbuilding industry due to the price of the Korean shipbuilding industry and a lack of human resources. But South Korea's shipbuilding industry still tops the global shipbuilding industry market, as it has advanced scientific and technological skills and high technology talent. This is why the Chinese shipbuilding industry is not comparable to the Korean shipbuilding industry. In particular, South Korea still ranks first in the world in terms of high value-added vessel construction, such as super-sized container ships and LNG carriers. In 2008, China's shipbuilding industry saw its new orders fall significantly on-year due to the impact of the global crisis, but China's orders reversed in the wake of the financial crisis. The Chinese shipbuilding industry has risen rapidly due to a wealth of human resources, large domestic demand and government support. However, China lags behind South Korea in the manufacturing of high-value-added technology levels and key high-end ships in manufacturing. Considering the situation in recent years, the export competitiveness of the shipbuilding industry between South Korea and China remains high. In the Chinese shipbuilding industry's technological level, high-value, high-end ship manufacturing and core ship package industries, international competitiveness is weak and lags far behind Korea in the face of a lack of structural technology and production capacity. However, even in the face of abundant Chinese government support and manpower resources, the Chinese shipbuilding industry has tremendous growth potential and international competitiveness in the future. Therefore, this study is designed to analyze the competitiveness of Korea and China's shipbuilding competitiveness. For the analysis of export competitiveness, the six-unit vessel type demonstration analysis was carried out for HS code using the Traditional Specialization Index(TSI) and the Revealed Comparative Advantage(RCA). It also analyzed the export competitiveness of the shipbuilding industry in Korea and China through a comparative analysis of the theoretical SWOT and the advantages and disadvantages of the shipbuilding industry in Korea and China. The summary results are as follows. First, according to an analysis of the Trade Specialization Index, the Korean and Chinese shipbuilding industries each have export-specific vessels, but Korea's specialization also has a lower competitive trend. However, Korea can show absolute export competitiveness in ships with high technological demands, such as special ships, based on high-end technologies. China's specialization is also on the rise, far more ships than those with less specialization. According to an analysis of the current comparative advantage (RCA), South Korea has a comparative advantage in special ships. China has a comparative advantage in many ships. China has few types of heavy construction investment ships. Especially, there is a high technology vessel. Second, according to the results of SWOT analysis in this study, the strengths of the Korean shipbuilding industry included abundant high-end technical manpower, R&D investment, equipment production and supply, securing capacity to build large ships, leading key technologies, and rear-end industries (steel, engines, equipment and materials). The weaknesses included weak capacity to build small and medium-sized shipyards and inferior price competitiveness. Opportunities included high global shipowner reliability, such as ship quality, and related industry-based growth. Threats included barriers to technology protection in advanced countries and strengthened technology certification, China's rapid rise and continued policy of fostering. The strong points of the Chinese shipbuilding industry included abundant low-wage labor, the government's policy to foster support, mass domestic demand, the capacity to build new shipbuilding and the dominance of the three major indicators of shipbuilding. The weaknesses included insufficient ship design and development capabilities, lack of technical personnel, low ship performance quality and inefficiency of the national management system. Opportunities included continuous growth of domestic demand, growth of the ship-related parts industry, and support from the government. Threats included intensifying international competitiveness, instability in the global market, oversupply in the country, and accelerated selection of new international regulations and standards production facilities. Third, in order to enhance export competitiveness in the future, Korea must adjust its ① industry-optimized industrial structure. It will promote cooperation among shipbuilders to foster mid-sized shipbuilders with international competitiveness. ② Small and medium-sized shipbuilders should be more competitive. increase R&D investment in specialized design and production. ③ New motivation for digging up domestic and overseas needs. Vigorously developing LNG related vessels. Investigate a policy ship order to excavate order requirements for overseas strategic cooperation projects.. ④ The focus is on the development of smart self-portrait ships and eco-friendly ships. extensively research and develop eco-friendly vessels. ⑤ Strengthen the industrial ecology Through the link between the rear sector and the large and medium-sized enterprises, the link between the rear sector and the large and medium sized enterprises has realized sustainable development. ⑥ Create more quality jobs. create high-tech jobs by expanding the scope of employment It will strengthen the promotion of high-end professionals such as eco-friendly ships and self-propelled ship sectors. ⑦ Maintaining special types and production personnel should be key, and maintaining the trend of development centered on high-tech and high-value-added lineups. China ① The Chinese government should tighten macro-regulation to solve the energy glut problem. ② Recommend restructuring. Through sharing knowledge and skills in industry, we can achieve common progress among enterprises and improve the overall competitiveness of industry. ③ Strengthen international innovation. In particular, the focus will be on fostering high-tech, high-value-added vessels such as large oil tankers, LNG, LPG, large container ships, high-speed ships and eco-friendly ships. ④ Human resources are trained. The emphasis should be placed on developing human resources and training technical personnel, as well as improving strategic management, related industry management, and production management. ⑤ Strengthening policy support. The government should also actively pursue a loan policy that will encourage more multidisciplinary investment. extend the size of bank loans and loans It is actively utilizing multi-unit investments to lead large market share stocks and package business projects. ⑥ The rational development of marine resources, the abundance of capital and the productivity of facilities and facilities should be strengthened. ⑦ Efforts should be made to promote diversification of vessels and consolidate their competitiveness. ⑧ The quality of equipment for ships and the development of key equipment materials should be actively promoted to increase the rate of localization.
