Management system and features of the computerized Taekwondo testing system : from the perspective of Merton's theory of structural functionalism원문보기

This study focuses on Merton’s theory of structural functionalism to conduct an in-depth examination of the management systems and features of the computerized Taekwondo testing system. By observing the computerized Taekwondo testing system through the perspective of structural functionalism, the study aims to reinterpret its management system and features through observation. To achieve the research objectives, the study made use of case studies, a traditional method used in qualitative research. Purposeful sampling, a type of non-probability sampling, and snowball sampling were used in combination for the participants of the study. A total of eight research participants who are knowledgeable about Taekwondo tests were selected for the study, including two instructors, two trainees, two parents, and two test judges. Additional data was collected through observation of the participants, in-depth interviews, and relevant data collection. Using these research methods, the following results were obtained. Firstly, there were the results regarding the managed system for the computerized Taekwondo testing system. The management system has four components, including the computerized test application, computerized identity verification, automated test records, and automated recording of test subjects. With the computerized test application, registering personal information and identification photos allowed for easy test registration and reduced the amount of time that was spent unnecessarily. In particular, the computerized system allowed for quick and accurate confirmation of the registrant’s identity, and the time required for the process was greatly reduced. In the automated test recording, the records were automatically saved and could be immediately accessed when necessary. The automatic recording of test subjects allowed immediate access to an explanation of the reasons for which a candidate did not pass the test along with video recordings, thereby resolving any potential mistrust in the evaluation. Secondly, there were the results concerning the features of the computerized Taekwondo testing system. The explicit beneficial features include fairness of the test (being balanced), speed (quick competitiveness), and precision (which is essential in a sport). An explicit adverse feature was the difference between regions (a lack of exchange). A potential beneficial feature is the prestige of the test (improved reputation). A potential adverse feature was the disparity between test judges (the inability of senior judges to adapt).
