Recently, markets for displays are focused on mass production of OLEDs (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) or production of small and medium-sized displays with high yield. Deposition of organic thin films is a necessary process for manufacturing OLEDs, evaporator with a single nozzle-type evaporator(point-source) was used as a major manufacturing technology in the past. However there was a limitation in form of single nozzles in order to meet size and mass production of displays. Therefore, two or more nozzles were placed, and linear sources in the form of multiple nozzles were developed to minimize depositors' volume, improve performance, and reduce costs. Although it had considerable economic ripple effect due to increase in production and yield until 5.5th generation quater glass, development phase is temporarily stalled as it is limited in size of 6th generation half glass. Problems faced by each equipment manufacturer today include low material efficiency of the evaporator, Shadow effect of the mask, and internal gas pressure, which are key factors that adversely affect cost and defect rate, material denaturation, and reduced life expectancy. Related studies are mainly experimental, and although the results of studies on a single nozzle vary, the numerical analysis at multiple nozzle levels is poor. It is not possible to calculate the simulation of a Navier-Stokes equation based continuum, especially because the process environment is a high-vacuum in an area of 10E-7 Torr and the particle exists as a lean gas. Nevertheless, a number of numerical analysis studies assumed to be continuous have been conducted until recent years. In order to overcome the limitations of these studies, rarefied gas simulations using direct simulation monte Carlo (DSMC) were performed to minimize the experiment and to identify performance improvements depending on the form of linear evaporation sources. In this study, the effects of reducing the distance between the nozzle to nozzle of a linear evaporator source are expected to be reduced to solve the problems of the current system as mentioned earlier, thus increasing the efficiency of the material and reducing the shadow effect of the substrate. Based on the experimental results of a single nozzle, the reliability of 95% or more was secured in the first verification, and the equipment performance was improved by entering the thin film uniformity within ±2% through the linear evaporation source deposition experiment of the 5.5th generation quater substrate depositor. Furthermore, a method was developed to derive the optimal NTN for OLED linear evaporation sources in the form of multiple nozzles applicable to next-generation mass production equipment of 6th generation half substrates and above, and to confirm that performance was improved during the numerical analysis phase. From the results of this paper, it was confirmed that deposition numerical analysis of OLED linear evaporator can be conducted based on lean gas rather than continuous. This research result was adopted by S and will be used to develop 6th generation half OLED deposition equipment.
