Abelia tyaihyoni, a Korea native plant species, is a rare plant and indicator plant of limestone. And it has been used for landscaping materials because of its has colorful and fragrant flowers. But the habitat has recently been reduced in size and threatened with extinction due to artificial damage. It needs to be protect and carefully managed in natural habitat. Therefore, In the present study, focused on improving the rooting rate based on the different condition such as cutting time, bed soil, and anxin treatment to preserve A. tyaihyoni. The cuttings used in the experiment were collected from its natural habitat in Danyang-gun, Chungbuk. As a result of the cutting experiment by cutting time, the rooting rate of the current year's branches was higher than in the past year's branches. And The rooting rate of softwood cutting in July was the highest at 45.7% compared to that hardwood cutting in March and semi-hardwood cut in August. And the soil mixed with vermiculite and perlite was the highest at 50.7%, and 16.0% higher than general seedling soil. It was suggested that physical properties, such as large pore and high air permeability of vermiculite and perlite mixed soil, are suitable soil conditions for A. tyaihyoni. In condition of different auxin concentration, the rooting rate of hardwood cutting in March was 44.0%, and softwood cutting in July is 53.3%, both of them showed the highest rooting rate at 1BA 1,000 ppm, however, it did not show significant increases in the rooting rate compared to the control group. Finally it was found the optimal condition for rooting rate. The softwood cuttings in July were used with VP(Vermiculite + Perlite, 1:1) soil, and treated IBA 2,000 ppm, the rooting rate was 81.3%, and it shows 35.7% increasing compared to the control group. The results help to effective cutting propagation the A. tyaihyoni.
