The purpose of this study was to investigate how a group art therapy affects the attachment and relationship addiction among adult women. The subjects were adult women in their 20s and 30s who agreed to participate in research, and were randomly assigned to an experimental groups and one control with 7 at each. From January 5, 2020 to March 15, 2020, the group art therapy program was given to the experimental group a week of 10 sessions, and no treatment to the control group. Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised(ECR-R) and Relationships Addiction Questionnaire were used as the research tools. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0(Statistical Package for Social Science v. 21.0). The Man-Whitney U Test of Non parametric Tests was performed to ensure homogeneity between the experimental and control groups, and the effectiveness of the program was verified by the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. In addition, the contents of the picture projection test were compared and analyzed qualitatively based on the attachment index of the Bird’s Nest Drawing(BND) developed by Kaiser (1993). The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, group art therapy had a positive effect on attachment of adult women. The result of analyzing pre-post scoring of Relationships-Revised ECR-R) scale of attachment types not show statistically significant change. However, the mean of the scores in the anxiety adhering, avoidance adhering and total attachment But the overall mean decreased, showing positive changes. Second, group art therapy statistically showed significant change on relationship addiction for adult women. The sex-addicted factors and the human-addicted factors showed no statistically significant changes, but the mean of post-active results was reduced than before. And the love addiction factors and the factors associated with relationship addiction, and total relationship addiction, statistically showed significant changes in relationship addiction. Third, the group art therapy program showed a positive change in the attachment and relationship addiction of adult women. Participants in the experimental group, who suppressed communication and emotional expression early in the program's activities, and delivered evaluative feedback, interacted more dynamically as the session progressed, freely expressing their feelings and opinions. In addition, the group members, who were indifferent to other people's stories and insisted on their opinions, were able to form a sense of homogeneity and bond on a common subject through the process of exchanging experiences based on their empathetic attitude, and were able to accept and sympathize with each other more smoothly than before. This study noted the lack of prior research on attachment and relationship addiction by utilizing group art therapy, and it is meaningful that it proved the effectiveness of the study for adult women and used both quantitative and qualitative analysis to study more objective results.
