다차원적 브랜드 글로벌화가 브랜드 품질, 명성, 태도, 구매의도에 미치는 영향 : 중국 소비자를 중심으로 The Effects of Multi-dimensions of Brand Globalness on Brand Quality, Prestige, Attitude, and Purchase Intention: Focusing on Chinese Consumers원문보기

With China's entry into the global economic powerhouse, building a global brand has become the principal expansion strategy of enterprises. And the main reason for this trend is that global brands can represent consumers' preferences and lifestyles around the world. Therefore, research on consumers’ perceived brand globalness has also become the focus of academic attention. However, from the precedent research of Chinese consumers’ perceived brand globalness, it is understood that many studies only analyze the results of a single dimension of perceived brand globalness. On the contrary, there is insufficient research on the multi-dimensions concept of perceived brand globalness. Therefore, this study aims to understand the multiple dimensions of Chinese consumers' perceived brand globalness, and also wants to know which factors in perceived brand globalness have an impact on a brand’s quality, prestige, attitude, and purchase intention. At the same time, the consumer ethnocentrism of consumers' tendency is assumed as a moderating variable to observe the moderating effect of this variable on the causal relationship between perceived brand globalness-related variables. To this end, this study conducted an online questionnaire survey from May 15th to June 9th, 2020, among adult men and women living in China who had purchased products from sportswear brands and collected 500 copies in total. In addition to 30 non-objects, 470 copies were used for result analysis. The data was analyzed with SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 25.0. Above all, examining factor analysis, the result showed that perceived brand globalness is divided into three factors such as perceived market reach, perceived standardization, and global consumer culture positioning, that perceived brand quality, perceived brand prestige, attitude, and purchase intention were extracted as one factor each. Next, to understand the causal relationship between the variables, the results of path analysis are as follows. First, analyzing the path coefficient between perceived brand globalness→perceived brand quality, and perceived brand globalness→perceived brand prestige, this study exposed that perceived market reach among perceived brand globalness has a positive effect on perceived brand quality, but perceived standardization and global consumer culture positioning among perceived brand globalness revealed insignificant effects on perceived brand quality. Also, this study represented that various dimensions of perceived brand globalness in the order of global consumer culture positioning, perceived standardization, and perceived market reach has a positive influence on perceived brand prestige in the order of global consumer culture positioning, perceived standardization, and perceived market reach. Second, examining that perceived brand globalness, perceived brand quality, and perceived brand prestige effects on attitude, the study expressed that perceived standardization among perceived brand globalness has a positive effect on attitude, but perceived market reach and global consumer culture positioning among perceived brand globalness revealed insignificant effects on attitude. Besides, perceived brand prestige and perceived brand quality has a positive impact on attitude in that order. Third, investigating that perceived brand globalness, perceived brand quality, perceived brand prestige, and attitude effects on purchase intention, the study showed that perceived brand globalness did not affect purchase intention, but perceived brand prestige, attitude, and perceived brand quality have a significant positive effect on purchase intention in that order. Furthermore, the results of the mediated effect analysis showed that perceived brand globalness has a significant effect on purchase intention through perceived brand quality, perceived brand prestige, and attitude. After the path analysis, this research examined the causal relationship among global consumer culture positioning and perceived market reach. perceived standardization, perceived brand quality, perceived brand prestige, attitude, and purchase intention were verified among high/low consumer ethnocentrism groups. The result of this analysis revealed that high/low consumer ethnocentrism groups have a significant difference in global consumer culture positioning→perceived brand prestige, perceived market reach→purchase intention, global consumer culture positioning→attitude, perceived market reach→attitude, perceived brand quality→attitude, perceived brand prestige→attitude. Through this study, elements forming the perceived brand globalness were identified, meanwhile the causal relationship with relevant variables and the moderating impact of consumer ethnocentrism were reviewed. It is deemed that it will provide useful information in establishing the segmented marketing and strategy for the brand which aspires to build a global brand.
