Recently, performing arts have emerged in the form of fusion or a combination of various genres. This study finds out the reality of fusion drama, a combination of music, dance, musicals, fashion shows, and plays, which are contents of various genres of performing arts. This study is conducted to evaluate the perceptions of producers and consumers about fusion drama and to come up with measures to popularize and revitalize it. The research method of this study is qualitative research, which sets up eight research subjects, including four producers and four consumers related to fusion drama, and is conducted semi-structured interviews. The findings from this study are as follows. First, consumers and producers of fusion drama who participated in this study understood the artistic characteristics of the fusion drama relatively well but recognized that the performance status of the domestic fusion drama was poor. Second, consumers have recognized fusion drama as a relatively unfamiliar genre. They recognized that if the producers of fusion drama presented a creative and fresh fusion drama, they could approach fusion drama much easily. Third, producers recognized that although fusion drama was an experimental genre, it should be presented to the eye level of the audience to the extent that it maintained its characteristics. Finally, this study examined the popularization method for fusion dramas. Consumers thought that the role of producers was important for the popularize fusion drama. In other words, it was shown that the popularization of fusion drama could be achieved if there was adequate publicity and government support. For the popularization plan for securing fusion drama, producers thought that the government's support policy was necessary. Furthermore, the securing of exclusive space, fostering dedicated actors, and the necessity of university education were suggested. This study evaluated consumer and producer perceptions of fusion drama and suggested the development plan as above. The limitation of this study is that it is difficult to generalize the results produced because it is qualitative study. Therefore, further studies related to fusion drama will be necessary in the future.
