대학생의 대인관계 스트레스와 사회불안의 관계에서 자기수용의 매개효과 Mediating Effect of Self-Acceptance in the Relationship between Interpersonal Stress and Social Anxiety Among College Students원문보기

The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of self-acceptance in the effect of college students’ interpersonal stress on social anxiety. To this end, a survey was conducted on 295 male and female countrywide college students regarding interpersonal stress, social anxiety, and self-acceptance scales. SPSS 25.0 program was used to analyze the collected data and the relationship between the research variables. Baron & Kenny’s hierarchical regression analysis was used to verify the mediating effect; the Sobel test was used to verify the statistical significance of the mediating effect. The following presents the results of this study. First, a positive correlation between interpersonal stress and social anxiety among college students was found; a negative correlation between interpersonal stress and self-acceptance was found. There was a negative correlation between self-acceptance and social anxiety as well. Second, higher interpersonal stress resulted in higher social anxiety; self-acceptance had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between interpersonal stress and social anxiety. Such relationships mean that while interpersonal stress directly affects social anxiety, the stress simultaneously and indirectly affects social anxiety through self-acceptance. This study verified that interpersonal stress predicts social anxiety and self-acceptance plays as a reduction factor of social anxiety. This study researched on the self-acceptance of interpersonal stress perceived by college students may help reduce social anxiety in the counseling. College students going through interpersonal stress will be able to recognize and acknowledge themselves as they are while concentrating on accepting themselves as a whole regardless of evaluations from themselves or others. In this vein, it is expected that this study will be of practical help in the counseling scene.
