A Study on Teaching-Learning Methods of Yun Dong-ju’s Poetry using a Motif of Road
The purpose of this study is to enable learners to enhance their learning effectiveness by internalizing the inner conflicts experienced by learners in adolescence and the concerns of self-exploration through the learning of road motif, which appeared in Yun Dong-ju's poem. Poetry education using a Motif of Road becomes a learning that adolescent learners experience the process of thinking and choosing how to live their lives. In order to educate this effectively, a teaching and learning method is proposed for the works of Yun Dong-ju, whose serious search for his life was clearly revealed as a motif of road.
Chapter 2 looks at the concept of a motif, which is the theoretical foundation for organizing teaching and learning guidance, and looks at the education of literature using them. In addition, this study is recognized the educational value of Yun Dong-ju's poems through the analysis of the aspects of Yun Dong-ju's poetry from the 1st curriculum to the 2015 revised curriculum. Furthemore this study find out the reason why Yun's poems are suited for use in literature education for adolescent learners.
In Chapter 3, I looked at the aspects of road motif, which were formed throughout Yun Dong-ju's works. I looked at how a motif of the road was formed within the work of Yun Dong-ju. I analyzed the motif of road in depth and examined the educational significance of youth learners living in modern times through Yun Dong-ju's poems by looking at the view of self, the aspect of self-conflict, the understanding of others, and the awareness of reality and willingness to overcome it as a historical self.
In Chapter 4, three poems of Yun Dong-ju, which showed the best aspect of the road, were selected and the method of teaching and learning using a motif of road, which Yun Dong-ju wanted to go, was applied to current learners. To do this, it presents a specific direction for finding a road that is easy for learners to understand. First, I design a teaching and learning model that is suitable for effectively utilizing a motif of road and bringing out the internalization of value to learners. Second, based on the designed model and the road motif analyzed in Chapter 3, Yun Dong-ju's poems “The Road”, “Seo-si”, and “Easy Written Poem” consisted of how to actually proceed the teaching and learning model. Using the motif of road discovered in Yun Dong-ju's poem, I propose concrete teaching and learning practices so that learners can improve their understanding of the work and internalize the value of finding a way through various activity materials.
This study is meaningful in that it attempted to enable learners to actively enjoy literary works even though models of instruction was not applied to the educational field. In addition, unlike the existing research methods, the study uses a motif of road, a thematic consciousness that appears throughout the work, away from individual approaches to Yun Dong-ju's work, so learners can understand the motifs formed between works and improve their ability to appreciate literary works. I hope that more active research will be carried out in the future so that learners will not to memorize fragmentary knowledge of poetry, but to help them to consider literary works as a joy of poetic thinking and to shape life values through these works.
