This study explored the cause of the COVID-19 vaccination among Koreans against the backdrop of the severe spread of COVID-19 in Korea. The Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) is applied to explain the factors affecting the intention to take COVID-19 vaccine. In this work, I conduct structural analysis by considering three different types of factors that could affect the intentions to take COVID-19 vaccines including information factors such as negative media exposure, personal factors such as health involvement and vaccine factors such as the uncertainty of vaccine safety or effectiveness. Based on the structural model, research hypotheses have been established that exposure to negative media exposure, knowledge, health involvement, uncertainty of vaccine safety, and uncertainty of vaccine effectiveness will directly and indirectly affect attitudes toward vaccination and vaccination intentions. I also establish research hypotheses that attitudes and subjective norms for vaccinations will affect vaccination intentions. At the same time, the difference in vaccination was compared according to the type of vaccine by separating variables related to the AstraZeneca vaccine and Pfizer vaccine, and each variable was examined and specific contrasted by age group. Research shows that in the case of AstraZeneca vaccine, negative media exposure and uncertainty of vaccine safety negatively affected attitudes toward vaccination and knowledge levels negatively affected attitudes toward vaccination. In addition, attitudes toward vaccination, subjective norms have been shown to have a positive effect on vaccination intentions. In the case of Pfizer vaccine, negative media exposure negatively affected attitudes toward vaccination, knowledge level and health involvement positively affected attitudes toward vaccination, and uncertainty of vaccine safety negatively affected vaccination intentions. Additionally, attitudes and subjective norms for vaccinations can have a significant positive effect on intentions to take COVID-19 vaccine. Finally, in the case of AstraZeneca vaccine, the effect of subjective norms on vaccination intentions by comparing groups in their 30s and 50s and 60s and the effect of uncertainty of vaccine safety on vaccination intentions were age-specific, but there were no differences in other pathways. In the case of Pfizer vaccines, the impact of attitudes toward vaccination on vaccination intentions and the impact of subjective norms on vaccination intentions differed by age, but there was no difference in other routes. This study has theoretical significance in showing that reasoned action theory is also applicable to coronavirus vaccinations other than conventional epidemics. It can also assist in planning campaigns for national collective immunity in Corona Pandemic in practice. Emphasizing the safety of vaccines, providing the right information about corona/vaccines, and the importance of individual health in the campaign could increase coronavirus rates. It is expected that the South Korean government will be able to help develop the Corona 19 collective immunization plan and devise other epidemic vaccination campaigns in the future. Finally, research on vaccination of COVID-19 in unprecedented pandemic situations could serve as the basis for further research developments related to vaccination of other infectious diseases in the future
