This paper aims to diagnose the way that historical temporality is eliminated in both the nostalgic films and the films based on a true story, which have been a prominent trend in Korean films since the 2000s. In studies on the Korean films, the year 2000 has been often mentioned as a turning point when nostalgic films and films based on a true story began to rise. However, the majority of those studies do not fully explain why that happened in the 2000s. The sudden emergence of these films is, usually, attributed to the various sociological facts that emerged during the neoliberal transition. But It risks ending in a rather crude reflection theory to directly incorporate the results of sociological facts into film analyses. This paper argues that in order to avoid this, it is necessary to understand the historical inevitability that these films had to appear. In short, the nostalgic films and the films based on a true story since the 2000s could be explained by the effects of 'the sensory turn' made in the 1990s. Of course, what should not be misunderstood here is that the expression 'sensory turn' refers to a period when senses began to become autonomous away from politics. Through the 1990s, we were free to display history, without any obligation or weight to represent it in a limited way. Along with the 1990s, which emphasized countless different personalities and self-expression, we could take something as a historical reality as long as it has certain indicators engraved with the characteristics of the times. As a resul, almost everything that reminds us of specific eras, from popular songs to various trivial events, serves as a symbol of the times with the same weight. This things which might be called the 'objective spirits' are most prominently seen in nostalgia films, where all historical facts are solidified into fixed images. And the rise of a new category of films, called films based on a true story, means that these 'facts' themselves have become a kind of genre, allowing them to cast away their historical weight. This paper analyzes Sunny(2011) and Han Gong-ju(2013) as the representative example of nostalgic film and film based on a true story respectively, and examines how temporality is being de-historized in each film. Sunny contains more details of historical facts than is necessary. On the other hand, Han Gong-ju seems somewhat insensitive to the historical time the incident took place, because it focuses on a subjective shock and individual trauma which seem to be irrelevant to history. However, the two films are common in that they reduce history to the present time. In this regard, the only time they deal with is the present time of 'Now, Here' which repeats repeatedly. In the modernist era, the present was clearly open to the utopian time as the unprecedented future. But these days, the present is a closed time to replace such a utopian time which disappears. This paper will looking at the global disappearance of temporality, refering to Frederick Jameson's discussion which analyses any ontology of the present in the term 'singulararity'. Through this, it will be emphasized that the situation dominated by singularity is also a crisis of subjectivity. In other words, it is the personal and the subjective to be in crisis in these current films missing objective history. Of course, it would not be appropriate to emphasize again 'History' in order to overcome the crisis in historical consciousness. This is because it is impossible to directly find history in today's film images where objective world seems to be disappeared. Perhaps it would be better for us to consider ways to rescue history through something reified, such as individuals, memories, and subjectivities which was frequently mentioned in nostalgic films and films based on a true story. The reified, of course, are ideological, but as such, there still remains any utopian aspects that the ideology seek to block.
