This study can be used to provide the necessary data to counsel and educate parents with reclusive loner children, to establish a social support system for reclusive loners, as well as to improve social awareness of reclusive loners by understanding the parenting experience of parents with reclusive loner children. For the study, we interviewed in-depth six parents with reclusive loner children and used J. A. Smith's Interpretational Phenomenological Research Method (IPA) for analysis. IPA is a specific approach to data analysis since Smith (1996) mentioned 'the qualitative approach to psychology based on psychology (Eatough and Smith, 2008)’' in the mid-1990s, and is one of the most commonly used qualitative research methodologies in psychological research. The IPA is interested in exploring and understanding the living experiences of a particular phenomenon, especially the meanings that people attach to their experiences(Smith, 2004). Thus, the core objective of IPA is to explore the implications behind people's subjective experiences. The core concepts and theoretical foundations of IPA are Personality Technology, Phenomenology and hermeneutics (Smith, 2004; 2007). Idiography is the study of subjective experience and the structure of consciousness, with a focus on the distinct experiences of certain people and the specific contexts in which they occur (Smith, Flowers & Larkin, 2009) and Phenomenology is the study of subjective experience and the structure of consciousness. IPA is different from phenomenology in that it strives to gain the 'insider perspective' of the phenomena being studied as much as possible, and that researchers are central to the analysis tool (Smith et al., 1999) As such, they did not see the researcher's beliefs as prejudices that should be eliminated, but rather as necessary to understand the participants' experiences. Thus, although IPA places a large emphasis on phenomenology from a methodological standpoint, it is suggested that it is "more interpretative than phenomenology" (Giorgi & Giorgi, 2008). In this work, we selected IPA as a research method for in-depth interviews and semantic interpretations of participants' parenting experiences. In this study, IPA was selected as a research method for in-depth interviews and semantic interpretations of participants' parenting experiences. IPA is an appropriate research method for understanding the meaning of participants' experiences along with phenomenological approaches. This is because the IPA values "personality technology," which focuses on individual experiences, and the "an analytical cycle process," in which researchers uncover the meaning through constant questions during interviews with participants. Therefore, the researcher wanted to reveal the child-rearing experience and meaning of parents with reclusive loner children through the IPA. The results were derived from seven major themes and 31 subtopics: "Missing the Signal of Change," "Feeling Guilty in Despair," "Isolated with a Child," "Family changes due to a child," "Looking Back at the Child's Growth Process," "Feeling the Child's Heart at the End of Chaos," and "Walking the Healing Path.“ Parents in the early days of seclusion used all sorts of methods, including physical, to get their children out of the room without knowing the cause of their child's seclusion. However, they spend time in conflict and suffering because of their children who do not show up in any way. They feel suffocating pain because there is nowhere to ask for help. However, as time goes by, rather than looking for the cause of the problem in their children, they try to find the cause of the problem in themselves. In the process, they suffer from guilt, but sometimes their attitude toward their children changes due to guilt. Eventually, the child's seclusion becomes an opportunity to look back on themselves, look back on their family, understand themselves as parents, and take it as a time to heal their family's wounds. Despite these thoughts, participants are often gripped by anxiety and depression at the thought that their children may not escape from their seclusion. A few years ago, this phenomenon began to appear in society and parents began to gather. Parents are comforted and encouraged through meetings with people with the same scars and are now starting to regain their lives little by little. This study focused on ‘the late recognition of child problems’, ‘the domestic factors of the reclusive loner’, ‘the absence of a social support system’, and ‘the recovery of the reclusive loner’. First, in ‘the late recognition of the child problems’, we discussed the phenomenon of missing important periods and regretting late due to the wrong approach to child problems. First, in ‘the late recognition of the child problems’, a phenomenon of missing an important time and regretting it belatedly due to a wrong approach to children's problems was discussed. Second, as for ‘the domestic factors of the reclusive loner’, the phenomena such as the father's practical or psychological absence due to his indifference to parenting, unstable parenting environment, and lack of opportunity to communicate with the family were discussed. Third, in 'the absence of a social support system', the necessity of an information support system for reclusive loners and their parents was mentioned. Finally, in ‘the recovery of the reclusive loners’, the recovery process of the reclusive loners and the role of parents were discussed. The suggestions according to this are as follows. First, Educational institutions and family support institutions shall prepare parental education courses and provide information related to reclusive loner and need to produce and distribute manuals to diagnose and respond to reclusive loners early. Second, a variety of counseling platforms should be established for the emotional support of reclusive loners. Third, a self-reliance support system linked to jobs should be established for the independence of the reclusive loner in the blind spot of welfare. Fourth, a support program should be set up to help the reclusive loner recover.reclusive Fifth, Parental education by life cycle and improving awareness of reclusive loners are needed to prevent reclusive loners. This study is meaningful to enable a healing approach in providing data needed for counseling and education of parents with reclusive loner children, and in establishing a social support system for reclusive loners as well as improving social awareness of reclusive loners.
