By 2025, there is likely to be a sense of crisis among Korean middle-aged women, not only due to hormonal changes and environmental and social changes, but also the tend toward a super-aged society, not to mention psychological instability due to the emergence of COVID-19, and solutions these problems are insufficient. In response to this problem, a study was conducted in which aromatherapy and yoga - both helpful for mental and physical management - were proposed twice a week for middle-aged women aged 35 to 64 for a total of eight sessions - two sessions a week for four weeks - divided into experimental group (combined yoga and aroma therapy, n=13), and control group (yoga, n=13) for non-face-to-face 60 minute sessions. Until now, only a few studies have combined aromatherapy and yoga, and non-face-to-face studies have also been insufficient. This study attempted to investigate the effect of non-face-to-face yoga combined with aromatherapy on stress, anxiety, depression, sleep, and quality of life in middle-aged women. As for aromatherapy, lavender, orange, and clary sage, which are helpful for the mind and body of middle-aged women, were inhaled through diffusers. Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Beck Depression Scale (BDI), Beck Anxiety Index (BAI), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and World Health Organization Quality of Life assessment (WHOQOL) were used to measure effects before and after intervention. Compared to the control group, the results of the experimental group are as follows. In the women who participated in yoga programs that combined aromatherapy, there were significant differences between pre and post-intervention in stress, depression, anxiety, sleep, and quality of life.(P<0.05) Improvements in quality of life are characterized by significant differences in both physical and social aspects. Yoga programs alone were also shown to effect significant differences in stress, depression, anxiety, and sleep, excluding quality of life.(P<0.05) However, there were no significant differences between the experimental and control groups in regards to stress, depression, anxiety, sleep, and quality of life. Despite the lack of difference between the two groups, each one's improvement in stress, depression, anxiety, and sleep effected by yoga programs that combined aromatherapy suggest that the combination of yoga and aromatherapy in non-face-to-face sessions is helpful for mental health and physical management in this current pandemic-stricken society.
