Recommender system derives users' preference patterns by analyzing aspects of users' past decision-making and retrieving items that fit users' preferences based on their preference patterns. Although hybrid approaches that maximize accuracy are used to increase profits in field work, too many analysis techniques cannot be used due to limited costs. Therefore, effective analysis techniques are selected to construct a mixed model, and collaborative filtering is at the center of the foregoing. Collaborative filtering is a technique used to analyze ratings. Until now, a matrix decomposition technique has been used because the excellence of its performance has been proven. Rating analysis-based recommender systems had reached the limit of accuracy improvement when the matrix decomposition technique was developed. To lift the performance limit, a new preference pattern that enables understanding of decision-making must be derived. Bias analysis is a model that derives new preference patterns by evaluating users' decision-making from the viewpoint of bias. Bias has been used as a compensation (y=ax+b) in linear models (or linear classifiers) in data science (e.g., data mining and machine learning), and it has been customary to treat bias equally in recommender systems. As bias plays a key role in decision-making, it can be used to shed light on users' decisions when faced with different options. Although bias can be treated as a shift of the intercept, this does not accurately reflect the relationship between the driver or drivers of the bias and decision-making. Multiple bias analysis (MBA) is a bias analysis model that reflects the relationship between bias and decision-making. When applied to decision-making regarding movies, the predictive performance of the MBA model was better than that of a matrix decomposition model. However, MBA has a number of limitations. The method of training the model is not effective, and its scope of application is limited to movie data. In this paper, a recommendation algorithm based on bias analysis using neural networks is introduced. The proposed method can be summarized as follows: First, an enhanced MBA (EMBA) model is proposed to increase the reliability of MBA. Second, a neural MBA (NMBA) model is proposed to solve the relationship between bias and decision-making as a non-linear problem using neural networks. Third, music data are verified to broaden the scope of application of bias analysis. Although most neural network-based recommendation techniques are designed as regression models, as ratings are regression data, in the proposed method, the model is designed so that neural networks classify ratings considering the fact that the neural network technique is suitable for classification rather than regression. In the proposed method, convolutional neural network (CNN) was used, and the ratings were classified by one-hot encoding when a two-dimensional bias matrix was input. VGGNet, and ResNet, which are representative CNN techniques, were used. The accuracy of the proposed method was compared with that of previous studies in an experiment using movie data and music data. The accuracy of the NMBA using VGGNet, and ResNet was 0.11%, 8.09%, respectively, higher.
