놀이 속 유아의 배움과 교사의 역할 탐색 : 학교 밖 전문적 학습공동체 참여경험을 중심으로 Exploring Learning of Young Children and Roles of Early Childhood Teachers in Play : Focusing on Teachers’ Experiences of Participation in an Outside School Professional Learning Community원문보기

The revised Nuri course emphasized infant-centered and play-centered, advocating that play is the life and learning method of infants. However, due to the difference between the value of play and the perspective on education, it is still not easy to relate play to education. The purpose of this study is to discover infant learning and explore the role of teachers by sharing various infant play experiences in the classes of infant teachers who participated in professional learning communities outside of school. The research questions set according to the research purpose are as follows. 1. What does the infant teacher face in the play? 2. How do infants learn from play? 3. What is the role of an infant teacher in play?
The participants in this study were 13 infant teachers working in the play support division among the professional learning community "○○Kindergarten Teacher Research Association" outside the school in Jeollanam-do. In order to study the contents and cases of the study participants, the researcher participated in all activities of discussing, practicing, and sharing cases throughout the year in the Play Support Division, especially paying attention to what the teacher faces in the play, and the teacher's role in supporting them. Data collection includes recording data recorded when operating a professional learning community, transcription data of researchers, field records, researcher journals, participant journals, and participant records, which are play records and reflection records. Data analysis went through the process of finding, categorizing, integrating, and interpreting semantic units through repeated reading of qualitative data according to the spiral data analysis model (Creswell (2007; 2010). The results of this study according to the research problem are as follows. First, in play, teachers experienced anxiety and tolerance limits and faced obstacles that made it difficult to play, but they also discovered new things. Teachers experienced anxiety due to the understanding of the infant-centered and play-oriented curriculum emphasized in the 2019 revised Nuri course, compulsion as a teacher's job, and the expression of play that missed the teacher's prediction. In addition, the teacher considered how far the allowable limit of play was depending on the situation. When teachers play games that are difficult to recognize, safety education, personality education, basic lifestyle education, and free play cross the boundary, and when teachers and infants share the initiative in play, the degree of permission for play was reconsidered. Even in this situation, the teacher's gaze "looked" at the children's play activated infant-led play, discovered the individual characteristics and interests of infants in more detail, and examined the relationship between infants in detail. And it was an opportunity to rethink the changed role of the teacher while reflecting on the teacher himself. However, some institutions recognized that play observation records became an evaluation item for teachers, and that the ratio of teachers to infants was not appropriate, or that the small but diverse needs of individual parents were an obstacle to play. Second, in play, infants were learning in various ways. Infants chose play by themselves and participated in the play initiatively, increasing self-esteem and self-efficacy in their own will and freedom. The play played by infants projected their own experiences of life, reducing anxiety in it, and developing not only cognitive but also technical skills through imitation. In addition, they interacted with each other closely or while playing with friends, creatively created new play ideas, and showed the unpredictability that play changes in an instant. Infants were developing resilience to rise again by experiencing failures naturally by repeating experiments and challenges freely through play. Third, in order to read the properties of play, the teacher observed, recorded, interpreted the play with the eyes of the infant, and tried to increase the degree of acceptance by putting down the teacher's initiative. In addition, teachers also happily participated in infant play so that learning-oriented games tailored to the infant's eye level could continue and expand. In addition, teachers evaluated the learning of infants, and teachers themselves were able to grow up with learning opportunities. Sharing and spreading with the educational community to promote the value and effect of play were also an important part of the role of teachers. Based on these results, this study suggests that first, early childhood teachers need a professional eye of teachers who can understand the value of play and analyze the contents of learning by themselves in order to discover infants who have learning in play. To this end, active learning communities and teacher training are needed to continuously study teacher reflection and infant play. Second, in kindergarten classes, teachers should focus on their original work to support the real play that is led by infants and leads learning. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the system for unnecessary work reduction of teachers and good class disclosure. Third, it is necessary for infant-led play emphasized in the field of early childhood education to be recognized socially. In order to revitalize infant-led play, it is revealed that it is urgent to improve our society and the educational community's awareness of play, jointly agreed play beliefs, and practice accordingly. This study is meaningful to reflect the characteristics of early childhood development and to examine the direction of teacher support for this by looking closely at infant play, discovering the way infants learn, and focusing on early childhood education. However, since the study was conducted focusing on the cases of teachers working within a limited space in Jeollanam-do, there may be limitations in applying the same in all kindergarten sites.
