A Study on Current Status of Youth Human Rights Education and Improvement Plan - Focusing on Participatory Human Rights Education-

The purpose of this study is to identify the problems of existing human rights education programs in detail through previous research on the current state of human rights education for youth, to prepare alternatives based on the perspective of youth participation, and through this, to further advance human rights education to develop a program. The research questions set to achieve these research objectives were set as follows. First, along with a general understanding of the concept of human rights education, the background of human rights education was identified through previous research and literature analysis. In addition, the process of human rights education is analyzed through the analysis of the legal grounds and actual conditions related to human rights education. Second, we will conduct an analysis of the current status of human rights education in government institutions. We will investigate the current status of human rights education by government agencies in progress in Korea. Therefore, the current status of youth human rights education conducted by the National Human Rights Commission, the Ministry of Justice, and the Office of Education was identified. Third, we will propose the development of a participatory human rights education program for the development of youth human rights education. Based on the results derived from the theoretical background and current status survey, we will discover implications for the youth human rights education program in Korea and suggest improvement plans in the educational methodology for qualitative development. And, in order to achieve the proposed research purpose and research problem, a focus group interview (FGI) was conducted along with a literature review, previous research survey, and identification of the current situation and current situation. In this way, in order to present a new direction for human rights education and to provide a new perspective on human rights education for youth, the following conclusions were drawn. First, in order for human rights education to be based on human rights sensitivity, information on the characteristics of youth human rights sensitivity is needed. Second. On the other hand, the following policy suggestions are made through the analysis of the actual situation for the vitalization of youth participation-type classes. First, policy support for strengthening instructors' capacity for participatory human rights education is desperately needed. Second, it is necessary to redefine the participatory and flexible youth human rights education process and evaluation method. Third, it is necessary to actively publicize the need for youth participation-type human rights education to educational institution officials, students and parents. Fourth, in order to provide an environment in which human rights can be respected, schools, local communities, and the state respect all decisions made by adolescents, and social efforts are urgently needed to foster general awareness of human rights among adolescents and society.
