전고체전지 (All solid-state battery, ASSB)는 기존의 리튬 이온 전지 (Lithium ion battery, LIB)를 대체할 수 있는 차세대 전지로 주목받고 있다.

All solid-state battery (ASSB) is the most promising candidate for next-generation batteries for electric vehicles to replace conventional lithium-ion batteries, LIB. The solid electrolyte in ASSB is a flame retardant that guarantees the safety of electric vehicles. Moreover, high energy density can be achievabed by applying lithium metal anode and bipolar electrodes. The sulfide solid electrolyte shows 10-2 S·cm-1 of ion conductivity, which is higher than the liquid electrolyte. However, there are some limitations to be overcome. Lithium metal anode undergoes side reaction with sulfide solid electrolyte and can possibly form voids at the interface. Therefore, there are several researches about carbon-based anode for ASSB, such as the composite of carbon black which has high electric conductivity, and silver nanoparticles to form an alloy with lithium-ion. The ASSB with the composite anode improves its efficiency and lifespan. However, the mechanism of lithium storage is not clarified in prior research. In this study, carbon nanotube (CNT) film is fabricated to apply as an anode for ASSB. CNT film has a large specific surface area that provides the pathway for lithium plating and diffusion. In addition, a large amount of lithium can be stored due to the porous 3D network structure of CNT film. The cross-section FE-SEM images and EDX elemental mapping with a different state of charge (SOC) shows the place for lithium storage in ASSB. The plated lithium atom diffuses to CNT film and is stored at the interface of CNT film and metal current collector. Therefore, two theoritical evidence for lithium diffusion is proposed to clarify the lithium storage mechanism.
