본 연구에서 12H-benzofuro[3,2-a]carbazole (IN_FUR)과 5-pheny l-5,12-dihydroindolo[3,2-a]carbazole (IN_CAR)에 3-(3 –bromophenyl) ...

Compared to the conventional liquid crystal display (LCD), organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) have drawn attraction much in organic optoelectronics due to their potential characters such as, ability to actively emit light, lack of back light requirement, wide viewing angle, high contrast, and possibility of fabrication in flexible, stretchable, and bendable substrate. However, despite the fact that OLED technology has many ad vantages over LCD displays, it has problems in products of unit price, consumption power and product life. To promote stable operation, efficiency and life of OLED devices, high thermal stability of host materials and bipolar characteristics for balanced charge injection into emissive layers are need. In this study, we designed and synthesized two bipolar host materials by incorporating 12H-benzofuro[3,2-a]carbazole (IN_FUR) or 5-phenyl-5,12-dihydroindolo[3,2-a]carbazole (IN_CAR) donors with 3-(3-bromophenyl)pyridine (Py-Br) acceptor. Synthesized 12-(3-(pyridin-3-yl)phenyl)-12H-benzofuro[3,2-a]carbazole (Py-IN_FUR) and 5-phenyl-12-(3-(pyridin-3-yl)phenyl)-5,12 -dihydroindolo[3,2-a]carbazole (Py-IN_CAR) showed excellent thermal stabilities and good bipolar characteristics. To investigate the device performances, green and blue phosphorescent OLEDs were fabricated. These two host materials confirmed excellent luminescence and high quantum efficiency.
