Park Beom-hun's 25-string gayageum concerto is a song composed by implicitly integrating the sigimsae of Gyeonggi folk songs, and in this study, only this song's collaboratively performed gayageum melodies were examined. For this, the overall structure of the song was classified, and the thematic melody and its variations were compared with the original folk songs, and then the musical characteristic and playing technique of the song were looked into. Study findings are as follows: First, regarding the thematic melody and its variations, similar melodies and changed melodies could be verified via the thematic melody of folk songs embedded in . was composed of a pentatonic scale and given changes by using a nonghyeon technique. reflected the characteristics of Song Geum-yeon's melodies and presented a pick-up technique when progressing up, together with a sharply dropping sound when progressing down. used a simple rhythmic structure and uneven melodies like its original folk song, and expressed rhythmic senses by using decorative sounds and leaping progressions. added a sense of jangdans through rhythmic division and octave leaping. used a splendidly divided sigimsae, and presented a leaping-down progressing and an ascending/descending structure. Second, regarding musical characteristics, had various changes in boncheng, and generally used a mixed structure of homophony and monophony. It showed a form of development in which the melody of coda was gradually divided. was transformed into a form in which one of the notes of the homophony, which presented in a complex manner in other songs, was eliminated from ‘Seong Geum-yeon's Song,’ and therefore appeared as an accompaniment in the same role but in a different form. In addition, were inserted to characterize the upward and downward progression. was characterized by a clear change in tempo in one movement and a slightly higher G-note nonghyeon. The polyphony pattern was presented twice before and after, and therefore it became the only polyphonic music. and consisted of fast rhythms to express changes, and from the solo cadenza part, they presented a homophony form in the pattern of a clear accompaniment that did not appear earlier, thus making the part specific to lead to the climax. Third, regarding performance techniques, generally used a chord plucking-up technique, namely a technique of plucking-up more than four notes at once. generally used a technique of plucking-up more than four notes at once with both hands, and a technique of soft flicking. generally used a two-handed/one-handed arpeggio technique, that is, a three-note plucking-up technique. and generally utilized a mixed form of playing techniques, by using a three-note plucking-up technique and a chord plucking-up technique together. As above study findings show, this study examined the musical characteristics of the 25-string gayageum concerto , composed by Park Beom-hun, namely a 25-string creative gayageum music in which Gyeonggi folk songs were made into a series of songs, and then looked into the performance techniques used. transformed the melody of folk songs into a thematic melody in various ways, and staged folk songs one by one in a series of distinctive arrangements using various modern techniques, thus reinterpreting them. Based on study findings, the author hopes the understanding of Gyeonggi folk songs will increase and performers and composers will activate various 25-string gayageum concertos.
