Regarding national security, various types of unexpected non-traditional security threats are evolving and increasing beyond traditional security threats to people's lives and national security. These days, the international situation is rapidly changing to an elevated state around the Korean Peninsula. In this situation, various terrorist acts and social and natural disasters of non-traditional security threats are occurring. The military should recognize the trend of changes in war patterns and prepare for non-traditional security threats beyond military traditional security threats. This study aims to discuss the development direction of the operation of special operational units in response to non-traditional security threats by raising the following issues in various situations where non-traditional security threats increase and the battlefield environment changes. In 2014, a domestic ship, the Samho Jewelry, was captured by Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden. In response, the Naval Special Warfare Flotilla inspection and inspection team of the Cheonghae Unit successfully operated through maritime counter terrorism operations. It says that the Navy's Special Operations Unit has developed a strategy for successfully responding to terrorism, a representative type of non-traditional security threat. We will derive factors influencing non-traditional security threats that continue to occur, increase, and evolve. Accordingly, three strategies, which are methods of conducting combat by special operational units, will be classified and analyzed for the analysis of strategies. Accordingly, we would like to analyze what kind of tactics the Navy Special Operations Unit operated according to the influencing factors. Based on these case analysis results, the hypothesis raised by analyzing and applying the reality of the Army's particular operation unit's ability to respond to terrorism will provide. In conclusion, I suggest a policy direction for development regarding what strategies the Army Special Operations Unit should carry out to respond to future non-traditional security threats.
