On the Flies Collected from Mt. Geonheung and Landfill, Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam, Korea and Their Seasonal Prevalence

This paper is results of taxonomical and ecological studies of flies collected from Mt. Geonheung and Landfill, Geochang- gun, Gyeongnam, Korea. The species of flies and the seasonal prevalence were researched 36 times from January to December,2000, for biological basic research before restored Geoyeol Mountain Fortress Wall that is located in Mt. Geonheung, Geochanggun, Gyeongsangnamdo, Korea. Comparing of flies fauna showed that the species of Calliphoridae was almost same each 12 (T2), 13 (T1)species in two ares, but the species belong to Muscidae and Sarcophagidae were very variable in Mt. Geonheung. The Total number of flies collected was 27,502 in 52 species, with sex ratio (male/female) of 36.3%; 6,639 individuals in 47 species were collected at trap 1 and 20,863 individuals in 33 species were collected at trap 2. Five predominant species in Mt. Geonheung were Calliphora late (27.9%), Chrysomyia pinguis (26.7%), Hydrotaea dentipes(11.5%), Muscina angustifrons (4.2%) and Lucilia caesar (3.9%) constituted 74.2% of the total collection. And Five predominant species in the landfill, Phaenicia sericata (26.2%), Phormia regina(20.8%), C. pinguis (13.8%), Aldrichina grahami (9.6%) and Musca domestica (4.6%) constituted 75.1% of the total. The species of flies was collected continually from the march to the beginning of december in T1 and T2. When the highest temperature was over 3.3$^{\circ}C$ in mid- winter, the flies was collected by traps through the taking foods activity. The similarity index in the flies from each trap was 70%. The number of fly species and the females individuals collected with the traps were more affected by the air highest temperature but the males by mean air temperature of the trapping day.
