최근 국내외에서는 저널 구독 비용의 증가와 도서관 예산의 삭감, 그리고 대학 및 국가 지식관리의 필요성 등이 제기되면서 누구나 자유롭게 접근할 수 있는 온라인 액세스 기반의 기관 레포지터리 시스템을 도입하려는 시도가 활발하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 대학학술정보 관리를 위한 온라인 액세스 기반의 기관 레포지터리 서비스 운영방안을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위해서 개별기관에서의 기관 레포지터리 서비스 사례를 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 전체 운영 단계 및 운영방안을 마련한 후, 학위논문, 교내 간행물, 교내 학술행사, 학술지 논문/연구보고서 등에 적용할 수 있는 현실적인 운영방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 이외에 기관 레포지터리 운영시 발생할 수 있는 지적재산권 사항을 살펴보았다.
