한국 자원봉사활동의 결정요인과 경제적 가치평가

본 논문은 통계청의 <2004년 생활시간조사>를 활용하여 사회자본의 현황을 살펴보았다. 생활 시간 조사에서 사회 자본은 ‘참여 및 봉사활동’이 해당되는데, 이 중 협의의 사회 자본에 해당하는 자원봉사활동의 참가 및 참가시간 결정요인을 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 자원봉사활동의 참가 결정에는 연령, 가구주 여부, 혼인상태, 취학 전 아동 유무, 성, 평소 육체적 피곤정도를 나타내는 인적 변수와 소득, 학력, 취업여부와 종사상지위, 지역, 요일 등과 같은 사회경제변수의 추정 계수가 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 자원봉사에 참여한 시간에 영향을 미치는 변수 중에는 연령, 혼인상태, 맞벌이 여부, 성별 소득, 취업 유무 및 종사상 지위, 주택의 입주유형 등이 유의미하였다. 마지막으로 협의의 사회 자본으로서 <2004년 임금구조 기본통계조사>를 이용한 한국자원 봉사활동의 경제적 가치는 연간총액 1조 8,325억 원으로 측정되었으며, 대 GDP 비율은 약 2%p.로 주요선진국의 평균 6%에 비해 상당히 낮은 수준임을 발견하였다.
