민간 병관념에 기초하여 현재 몸의 상태를 무엇으로 정의하는가? 참여자들은 다양한 정보와 지식, 직간접적인 질병관련 경험, 사회의 병관념 등을 토대로 자신의 병관념(illness)을 구성한다. 이 민간 병관념에 기초하여 현재 몸의 상태를‘정상’또는‘비정상’으로 정의하고, 이 정의와 주변정황에 따라 그리고 질병 과정에 따라 건강관리양상을 달리 나타낸다.
