최근 국내에서 안면마비의 발생 빈도가 점차 증가하는 추세인 이유는 무엇인가? | 현대 사회는 외모에 대한 관심이 높고, 인간의 얼굴 표정은 사회생활에 매우 중요하므로 안면마비는 육체적ㆍ정신적으로 환자에게 커다란 고통을 줄 수 있다. 최근 이동 수단의 발달로 인한 교통사고의 증가, 의료기술의 발달로 인한 미용 산업, 성형수술, 악관절 교정 수술, 진단 기술의 발달로 인한 청신경초종의 조기 발견 그리고 여가 시간 증가로 인한 스포츠 활동이 증가하면서 안면 신경의 직접적인 손상으로 인한 안면 마비의 발생이 증가하고 있다23-25). 그러나 지금까지는 주로 특발성 안면마비(Bell’s palsy)에 대한 연구가 주로 이루어졌으며, 외상성 안면마비에 대한 연구는 많이 부족한 실정이다. |
